I went to the Knitting Factory yesterday and they had tickets for day 1 and day 3... don't know if that will change by tomorrow... i imagine you'll still be able to get in... Academy Records on 12th between 1st and A had tickets for day 2 which i also bought one of... All together the prices were $18, $20, $18 which totals 56 not that much more expensive than the sold out $50 3 day pass. And probably definately cheaper then getting reamed by Ticketmaster.

Sunday is now the only date that is NOT sold out, but might very well sell out by tomorrow morning - since tonite is the first night of the festival. Thurston's festival starts at 5pm too at the K Gallery .. which is now, I'm out...

KS Art presents NOISE/ART a group exhibition curated by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth. This show represents the living phenomena of underground noise musicians who work contemporaneously as visual artists and who utilize the ephemera and product of noise music, both improvised and composed, as a primary forum for their expression.
Noise, experimental, avant-garde, no wave, post-punk, art-rock etc has always had a distinct relationship with art-world history. Today’s noise music scene distinguishes itself as a community sharing ideas through the immediacy of internet connectivity and the raw tradition of playing shows in basements and rented spaces across the country and around the globe.
The visual aspects of this scene are in equal measure to the music as a primary aspect of the performance is a merchandise table of cassettes, private press LPS, fanzines, clothing, art-books etc as well as the noise gear itself: amplifiers, instruments, noise making machines and implements all having the artists’ personal yet shared aesthetic involved. NOISE/ART while international in scope can only be a sampling of this high-energy sub-strata of artists as it is mutating constantly in the underground.
Artists presented in NOISE/ART: Dennis Tyfus, Maya Miller, John Olson, Noise Nomads, Bill Nace, Leslie Keffer, Chris Forgues, Alivia Zivich, Chris Pottinger, Nate Young, Robert Beatty, Nathan Bowers, Charlie Draheim, Dylan Nyoukis, nik rizili, Mike Haley, Matt Heyner, Kim Gordon, Kate Csillagi, Twig Harper, Adriane Schramm, Marcia Bassett, Pat Maher, Max Eisenberg, Carly Ptak, Mike Connelly, Carol Sandlin Kelly, Sam Mckinlay, Heath Moerland and Angela Messina.
Concurrent with the opening weekend of the show will be live performances in the gallery by a select group of noise musicians/artists.
In 2009 Picturebox Books will publish NOISE/ART as an artists book edited by Thurston Moore. The book will be primarily a visual survey of the art as presented by noise musicians as displayed on the thousands of arcane and obscure cassette releases the past decade.

hey all, brief rundown of the first night of NO FUN at the Knit last night. it was a good one. great vibe, great crowd. despite the rain, it's beautiful outside now so Sat & Sun should be double-no-fun. anyway, thurston's
gallery show was good - packed room across the st. at the ks gallery, interesting minimalistic music-sets + art from various folk. i do know,
thurston will be performing at the ks gallery on sunday.

i caught a good amount of the sets at the knit - but was hangin' out most
of the time. thurston/nancy garcia was ripping. tony conrad was aight, but
a few friends of mine were kind of dogging his set a bit. lee & kim were
both in the house. various esctatic peace heads, as well.

again, great night + tonite and sun should rock hard. see u there....

loud, skree-ching, shuddering, the 2nd act on the main stage forced a whole bundle of celery stalks in his mouth. sickness was heavy as shit. i'm probably not the best gauge though, i was running around a lot

Workbench (who opened the night) is the girl and guitar player from Religious Knives.

White Out played with Carlos Giffoni and C. Spencer Yeh

the guy who was eating and vomiting celery stalks was ridiculous (Randy Yau)

Tony Conrad, I think the main problem the set was too long. I think it would have good set for a sit down at Issue Project Room, but at that time of night with a bunch of tired people in the room? It was just not the best situation in that sense.

I think Thurston/Nancy Garcia, was best set of the night (though I didnt see all the sets downstairs).

i was afraid things would be like this this year, with so many drone acts instead of noise...perhaps tony should have headlined the downstairs stage?

like sticking variety on a metal festival.

Hair Police last night destroyed, prob one of the best sets of the festival so far.

great shows across the street as well- Dead Machines, Sick Llama, Marcia Basset and others, some names I forget. Apparently Kim Gordon played there on friday but I missed it.

left only on ticketweb.com or the box office - it might sell out a little bit
after doors but for any NYC cats who wanna catch Lee .. there's tha info.

Anyone know what the gallery lineup was yesterday? Was that Bill Nace who played with Thurston and Flaherty? I think Uneven Universe played 2nd. but the first guy with the tatoo on his head I didn't know.

yeah that was Bill Nace, however who was the second drummer who played with Lee, one of them was Tom Surgal, the other one I didnt recognize.

Also, I have to say it, I think The Haters set to end the fest was bullshit. what was the point? to get us to storm the stage so they would stop pushing that woman around? they did some violence to a woman and we just stood there like idiots and watched? Fuck them, I feel bad I was part of that little theater.
