There's SO MUCH age restriction in NYC it sucks. They fucking card for 16+ shows. What's the point?

thre is nowhere except the townehouse bar that is a true venue... some places are just big old halls transformed into venues for a few shows a year, its hella lame. there used to be this bar called 7 here, but it was all ages, and they put on fun shows. then some prick threw a brick into the window during a show, and fucked that up.any venue we get, some assholes fuck it up for us.

I know right? And what's stupid is they ask for a government issued ID with a photo on it when no one at 16 in NY has a license and school ID's aren't government issued obviously. It was some serious bullshit but i've gotten into those shows anyway, i just lie a little bit. I don't really understand 18+ either.

yeah, like, give out bracelets fer chrissakes. it isn't fair cos the 18/19+ shows here are always eally awesome bands. like, JSBE, the Constantines came a few times, and apparently Wolf Parade might be coming (if they do, im getting in no matter what, ill find a way). and the young ones are left out in the cold with all these really boring "punk shows" with retards that wanna pummel eachothers faces in.

For real. But whatever, i usually get lucky when the really good shows pop up and i end up getting in fine. But some venues have bad age restrictions and a lot of good bands come through them.

21 is drinking in the states. But there are very few 21+ these days anyway, it's more 18+ on the east coast. Bullshit.

perhaps it's because of cigarettes smoking. but it's like who under the age of 18 can't get their hands on cigarettes anyways. it's too fuckin easy

And get this, the legal age for smoking is 16. Where as now where i live you can't buy cigerettes until you're 19. I don't smoke so it doesn't bother me but these venues are just trying to keep younger people out and it pisses me off. A large part of it is because they make a lot of their profit off the overpriced drinks so they don't want more people who can't drink.
