It really is. They are both albums that I like to have on when I'm going to sleep. Very calming. Dark Side of the Moon starts to calm me to sleep then Great Gig in the Sky and Money come on. But then Us and Them and Any Colour You Like settle me back down and I fall asleep around the time it gets to Brain Damage.

Agree. Loveless isn't near as consistent as Isn't Anything. Loomer, When You Sleep, Soon and Only Shallow are amazing. After "When You Sleep" the album gets boring in my opinion. I prefer the preceding EP's Glider and Tromolo to Loveless. Isn't Anything is their best album, imo. You Made Me Realise EP is also amazing. |

Never much liked Isn't Anything, except for Feed Me With Your Kiss. Always thought Loveless would've made an amazing four track EP, but the album's got way too much mush on it.

Thats exactly how i feel, Loveless is so emotional and dramatic. I put in Isnt Anything when im in a good mood. I wish they made more songs like Lose My Breath! I love that one It depends what yr in the mood for i think, as with anything really. |

I like them both but it is easier for me to give Isn't Anything repeat listens than Loveless.

during my second summer job years ago, I would skip out on work and sleep in my car to Loveless in the early morning waiting for my friends to wake up
it was awesome |

I can't wait till they both get re-issued. I'll make my final judgement as to which I like better when I get an actual copy of both, not some downloads. At the moment I favor Loveless, but I switch my opinion on a seasonal basis.

Can't really choose between 'em, but the You Made Me Realise EP tops 'em both. The quintessential MBV moment.

All I know is that Isn't anything is a great tape album. Something to put in the car or on the headset to drill around town to.

I've probably replied on this thread but I don't feel like looking back.
Anyway, Loveless is pretty dull, it's got some amazing songs but some that are just downright boring. Also, the production is TERRIBLE. "Cool, guitar layers!" is most people's reaction.. mine is, "Man, I wish the drums didn't sound so fucking tinny." Isn't Anything is good from beginning to end in every way. It rocks and rolls and is filled with experimental guitar bliss. Just amazing. You Made Me Realize has all their best stuff on it though. |

ok i never actually answered the question. i like them both equally.
loveless is just really beautiful music. amorphous or shapless in a way. isn't anything is brilliant songwriting executed perfectly. much more solid verse-chorus-verse stuff going on. |

you made me realise, slow, and cigarette in your bed are the only truly good songs on the EP. the other two are irritating at worst, throwaways at best.
the production on loveless is "terrible" for a reason, like it or not. 1) kevin shields wanted it that way. believe me, the record wouldn't have been released if he wasn't happy with it. 2) alan mcgee was off his fucking head. |

I'm sure I've posted on this thread before, I'm just too lazy to look. I'm sure I said something like, Why can't we just call both of them great?
Because they are. They're both awesome albums, and neither's necessarily better than the other.

You Made Me Realise followed by 50 minutes of Kevin Shields farting into a bucket would still qualify as the quintessential MBV moment in my book. Anyway, Drive It All Over Me is fucking great too. |
