Whats your favorite Album and Song? My favorite album by Pavement is Slanted & Enchanted, the original, on cassette, on my tape deck in my old geo metro, blasting forth through my speakers and bleeding ito my skull a new conscioiusness and new laissez faire attitude about polish, about rock, abnout obtuseness. I fucking love pavement. slanted & enchanted! second comes WESTING BY MUSKET AND SEXTANT!
Have you ever seen em live? I did! I saw them open for Sonic Youth on the Dirty Tour and it was amazing and they still had their old drunk ass drummer steve young(?) and it was an awesome show all shambles and rock and music an dit was beautiful and people tried to slam dance to the pavement but it is too beautiful to slam dance to, and I have never ever gotten over the departure of steve because he added a shambolic beauty to their show and feel and it was never quite the same after that. they went from an anarchic colective to a full-fledged indie rock band. and they lost something. that something made them very special. Which do you prefer now Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks/Preston School of Industry? neither. they both suck ASS. they are fucking terrible. they make me want to gaga and throw on westing by musket and sextant to get that taste of rotten seeping SHIT out of my ears and mouth. goddamn they suckl. they are a fucking waste of time and breath and life. what fucking horrid bands. BORING. it is like veery singl thin that could have sucked about pavement and did not in pavement, sucks and sucks royally in their solo shit. FUCK they suck. Do you or would you like to see them re-form? NO. leave me with my dreams and memories of SM, Spiral Stairs and a 4 track recorder in steve's garage studio.

Westing is a compilation put out by Drag City.
I think everyone pretty much knows this, jus' sayin'. Yeah, Norma they are inspiring. Back in '89 when I was first making music & none of my friends liked Sonic Youth & thought I was out of my mind...if only we would have made music & I would have been allowed to be the arbiter of the sound & concept, well, then I/we could have been a Pavement (or at least a Nirvana)...no prob. |

Pavement are great. I think Slanted and Enchanted is my favorite cause it's the album that got me into them. I have been listening to Brighten the Corners a lot lately though.

While I really like Slanted and Crooked Rain, I don't love them the way I do other 90s stuff. So I never became an obsessed fan. But I do respect Pavement a lot. I really enjoy my vinyl copy of Crooked Rain.

pavement reminds saturcantank9erous of the many days her and I spetn stoned out of our gourds, driving in her father's car, which she snuck out of her house in, and the sonic bliss that folowed.
she cannot stand the memories of our tainted love.

the single greatest most amazing beautiful ridiculously joy filled lovely pavement song, and the one I dedicate to cantankerous, is PARFUM V
fun for an hour til the hour's gone can one trick nights feed 40 days? in my bed at the break of dawn she shivered like a vein slashed bright and new she's got the radio active and it makes me feel ok (i don't feel ok) [x2] grip-force the vials and strip the locks smash the set & slash the beds and when it looks life a wife's ex-plot we'll cover all the rugs with cheap perfume she's got the radio active and it makes me feel ok (i don't feel ok) [repeat] like a docent's lisp, like a damsel's spit, like a dry gin's twist (of lime) like a poor droll sir, like a pike's dull spurs, like a pastor's flock (of sheep)

Malkmus ain't no Michael McDonald.
He should cover the Doobie's hit, "What A Fool Believes". |
