I've gotta give it up for the Avalanches. Some of the better 'electronic' stuff that has surfaced in the past couple of years.

I'll tentatively say up to Hourly, Daily they're not too shabby; their new album sucks some serious mammal genitalia. |

Liars--- Just Saw Em Last Night In Chicago And The Show Killed-lots Of Energy-- Drums Not Dead Is A Great Record And They Do The Songs Well Live--they Also Played A Few Songs From Earlier Records--- Has Anybody Else Caught Them On Their Tour??? Maybe Even The Chicago Show???? It Was Great- Angus Was Awsome, Very Funny- Very Energetic, and Had Some Awsome Pedals Only 2 But They Were Pretty Cool- Idk What They Were, Produced Lots Of Feedback Ummm Aaron And Julian Were Great Too- The Drums Were The True Energy That Pushed The Show- Very Raw- Very Loud... They Really Hit Them .... I Mean Reallly Hit Them---- And Not To Sound Too Repetitive But It Was Great--- seriously , See Them If You Have The Chance...--- I guess somebody has seen them on their recent tour--- THEY BLEW ME AWAY TOO TOXIC JOHNNY -- TOTALLY :-D.
I would have to cheat a little and say the Liars...even though they contain only one Australian. They completely blew me away at ATP on saturday.- Toxic Johnny |

i'm sure australians hate any mention of Men at Work, but I've seen colin hay do his accoustic show "man at work" and it rules. really entertaining. he tells stories in between songs, some funny, some sort of bittersweet, and he played some of his own songs too that were good enough that i ended up buying his cd. it was a little distracting though because he wasn't wearing underwear and had a large package. we were only sitting a few rows away and you couldn't take your eyes off it. he probably put a potato in there or something for effect.

He is interesting, isn't he. I enjoy Men at Work, quite a bit. theres tons of good Aussie bands - alot have been mentioned. Alls I will put is: Bluebottle Kiss: They've been making great albums for over a decade now, and are extremely underrated. They've also just released another album (double album) which is great. This is really by no way an indication of the album, but the sticker on the case of the album reads: "Australia's most adventurous guitar bands evoke the spirit of Tom Waits, Neil Young, Coltrane, Sonic Youth and more..." I mean, the music is tinges of all them greats in there, but it only tinges of each. www.myspace.com/bluebottlekiss www.bluebottlekiss.com Also, another band related to Bbk, is the Devoted Few. Great band also. www.myspace.com/thedevotedfew www.thedevotedfew.com You Am I: They've just released another album titled "Convicts", and it's awesome. They have a really great back catalogue, too, which I greatly suggest checking out. www.myspace.com/youami www.youami.com.au Tim Rogers and the Temperance Union: Its The singer/guitar from You Am I's solo outfit. Really good. http://www.youami.net/timrogers/low.htm The Panics: www.thepanics.com.au If you like Metal/Hardcore: In Name and Blood Bob Evans: Acoustic, folk/pop to the likes of Elliott Smith etc. www.myspace.com/bobevans That'll do for now

that would be really great if you could, their discography was issued in the UK in an edition of 500 I think so once I found out about them they were probably all gone.

The only NZ stuff I have is The Mint Chicks - Octagon Octagon Octagon EP. And it is good, not too sure in which category it falls though. Math-punk?? Not that I care that much about it... Anyway, for some mp3s go to http://www.themintchicks.com/newsound.htm |
