I once bought a cd by a band called UFO! (probably the shittiest, most annoying thing I've ever listened to) because I thought it was UFO.
Also - Cake (the one that had that song "Short Skirt, Long Jacket", and Long Beach Cake, later the Lungpigs. Incubus (3 bands) Then there is a band called Karp, and two bands called Carp, one of which is my favorite local band. |

There's in fact lots more Mono: the post-rock band from japan and the british duo you said, plus a dutch indie rock band, an austrian ragga artist, a korean ballad band, a trance artist from Sweden, a german heavy metal band, a polish hiphop band and a danish indie band (thanks Last.fm). Most of them sound shitty anyway. There's also a harsh noise band called Monno, they're good |

isn't that the same band as everyneurotic refers to?
then there are bands (artists) who deliberately choose somebody else's name, like kevin shields and donna summer. |

There's two bands called Lotus Eaters:
An experimental/ambient metal project featuring Stephen O'Malley (SunnO))), Khanate etc), James Plotkin and Aaron Turner (Isis); and a terrible 80s electro-pop band of the same name |

This must take the cake for the biggest stylistic difference between bands with the same name.
