On the one hand, ideally speaking I would never speak to anyone who didn't immediately get that the Shaggs are a better band than anyone else on an entirely empirical, ontological level. However, I live with two people who hate the Shaggs, and most of the people whose company I keep on a frequent basis also hate the Shaggs.

On the other hand, it's not so much about 'tester' records. One of the more interesting thing to do is ask people what the most embarassing record in their collection is. Generally it's something really really good.

I don't generally trust people who have no time for 'silly' music. And this from a Wagner fan with Mahler tendencies.

The majority of my few friends listen to what some of you would deem as appaling music, but then again I rarely talk about music with my friends. It's more cocks or more superficial stuff like that. I find myself bored talking a lot about music all the time in the flesh. I prefer talking about art in general but without namedropping a lot, or my brain switches off.

It's oriented TO SHOUTING ABOUT HOW BRILLIANT THINGS ARE for about ten minutes until you get REALLY BORED OF THEM and decide they are LITERALLY THE WORST THING EVER etc.

On a more serious note, I do fucking love that website and it has entirely taken control of my ability to talk about music without getting really excited and saying etc at the end of everything etc.

Umm not really, but you can tell a bit from people's music tastes. Like people who like Nevermind over In Utero are generally the more casual Nirvana fans. Just small things like that.
