I appreciate the Chinese characters behind her. And how her shirt rules everything forever. |

I liked the stuff she did as Stella Rico. I mean, I'm not going to say she hasn't done anything musically I don't enjoy...there just isn't much of it. She just falls short in the artistic department for me.

Yeah, I totally get that... I'm her biggest defender on here and I still wouldn't put most of her Teenage Jesus stuff on my ipod. It's mainly her personal coolness and her affiliation with cool artistic groups that makes me so intrigued by her. |

I'm more interested in the artists than I am those affiliated with them. That's just me, though.

I meant in the context of No Wave... Like, the way she helped shape the scene and the stuff she had to say about it in retrospect. She's super-smart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKeDow8Owb8 |

How was she put on her ass there? She tried to criticize that guy's act and he flared up and yelled at her until she backed off... She definitely wasn't embarrassed, she stayed calm throughout the whole exchange. I guess it wasn't a success for her since she barely got any words out, but she definitely came across as the bigger person to me. |

Yes. And that video is even cooler. Nothin' worse than someone who doesn't know how to keep their business in their businesses' place.

How so? She was rude by engaging in a conversation she didn't belong in. Sorta like preaching the word of god in public schools...it's just awful. She didn't deserve to get any words in. Why she was even there is beyond me.

It was exactly like preaching the word of god at a school. HE was preaching and the word of god was his offensive act. Comedians know when they're being offensive, and should have a better defence than to yell down their critics for criticizing them at all. Her goal was to defend the girls that he had been ridiculing, and his goal was to cover his own ass. That's a much more cowardly position to take. |

To me it appeared his "act" was over and he was outside conversing w/ some friends/fans/etc. If she had an issue w/ his act, perhaps she shouldn't have been there. I mean, it's not like she's changing anything or making a difference. Comedy at it's best is usually offensive. Someone should defend the boys she ridicules (actually, I do it all the time). I don't think he was being a coward at all...I think she stepped on his turf and he shoved her off it. I bet if I approached her the same way she approached him I'd be regarded as some male chauvinist. That simple. If someone breaks into my house, or intrudes on a conversation they don't belong in, I'm damned sure not going out of my way to allow them to speak. She talks too much as is.

If he bases his comedy around being offensive then he should accept it and be able to defend it. Good comedians are offensive for the purposes of satire, and are actually not hateful people. If his only response to her criticism is to tell her to shut up and go away, then I'm led to believe that he's just a hateful person. Looks to me like they were in a bar... Hardly his "turf". He makes it his business to let people know what he thinks of women, why can't she make it her business to respond to it? As he observes in the video several loud times "don't tell people what to do". |

Why can't a good comedian be a hateful person? I mean, define "good person". And whether they be at a bar, a venue, or a gas station parking lot she still engaged in a conversation she had zero business being in. And thing is...she's made somewhat of a living off of expressing her feelings regarding men. That spoken word record she did w/ Exene was just painful to even listen to. Not because I'm some dick chauvinist, but because she's clearly an individual not in tune w/ science/nature. Seems to me she likely, and I can't be sure because I wasn't there, showed up at this event to stir shit. Also funny is the fact that no one there (including the person that posted the video on Youtube) seemed to even know who the fuck she was. Hilarious is her introducing herself as Lydia Lunch, and NO ONE giving a fuck. I love her little laugh. It screams "I don't know what to do and wasn't expecting this response". She likes getting reactions out of folks, was awesome seeing her get one she CLEARLY did not EXPECT nor ENJOY. I'd have paid to have seen that.

What's a conversation she doesn't belong in? She can talk to anyone she wants just like this comedian can say whatever he wants. They both make a living off of making fun of the other. The difference is that when they came face-to-face she was alone and remained calm and he was with a bunch of his friends and flared up. I conclude that he's a hateful person. Maybe a good comedian, but a hateful person. So I see no reason to respect him the way I respect Lydia. If I were her I would have walked away from that conversation feeling proud |

That's cool... Put please explain the comment about sucking dick and calling it art. Because that began to trip my male chauvinist detector, which I know you've been quick to explain throughout this discussion is not your intention. |
