I think Big Audio Dynamite, in retrospect, deserve a little more credit for fusing rock music with different styles, including hip-hip aspects, before it was the done thing. They also largely started the trend for inserting dialogue from films etc into music.
And they were good.

I'm not sure about that - I think those apply to any albums/tracks that are widely available. I'm more than happy to upload them, but I don't want to incur any administrative wrath. Can you send massive files like that over MSN or Yahoo? I can't remember my damn soulseek id. I really have no business using a computer. |

Thanks for the reply. I'm checking it out now. I'd like to niominate Nine Black Alps, who rock out rather well in my opinion.

The Wipers
I never ever hear this band talked about and they're great. Their first three records are classics with some amazing guitar work on them. The only time I've ever seen them in print is when people say that Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr were influenced by them. |

solex as she is an unrecognized sample master
windy and carl. i'm surprised they don't get talked about more now that drone is semi-fashionable. i don't think public enemy are underrated as Nation of Millions is the regarded as the undisputed greatest hiphop record ever made (or at least whenever there's a poll it always wins, and is usually the only rap record to show up on mainstream polls) I think Keiji Haino should be crowned spiritual guardian of the planet earth. And Sun Ra should be widely recognized as being on a par with any of the great musical minds of the 20th century. |

Windy and Carl are two of the sweetest people on earth.
They rule the style they play in. I don't think Can is underrated; they are highly regarded and have a much deserved reputation/legacy as one of the most seminal and influential stylistic innovators of their era, whose ideas have stretched farther than they could possibly have imagined at the time. |
