Everything from priest driven ambulance to soft bulletin is gold. The newer albums have some good tracks too.
Saw their live show at a Big Day Out and was in a good mood for about 3 weeks afterwards. Always looking forward to seeing what they come up with. I just wish Drozd would get back on that kit! |

You guys are all so pessimistic about new flaming lips material. Granted their last few records haven't been too good (Im a fan of theirs from Priest to Zaireeka) but Im willing to give them another chance. I adore their mid period stuff the most and hope they go back to that stye but i know thats not realistic.(maybe if they find ronald jones!)
Think of it like this though remember the huge stylistic shift from Zaireeka to Soft Bulletin, perhaps they'll surprise everyone by going into new unexplored territory with this double album. If this double lp isnt good and is more like prog rock masturbatory songs im giving up on this band forever. It would be cool to see it go everywhere like some crazy acid noise pop next to bulletin like material, next to some bare acoustic tracks.

The thing is, there is nothing wrong with the BAND. I love the BAND. Just the *singing*.. they sound so goddamned bored with every word that comes out of their mouths.

You are undeniably the most annoying poster on this board.

Says the guy who has never contributed anything the least bit worthwhile discussion-wise, never turned anyone onto any good music, never has uploaded any albums or reccomended bands to anyone, listens exclusively to 90's alt-rock, starts a thread every 4 posts, and is under suspicion of being a troll...
Ever heard the phrase "pot calling the kettle black"? I'm sorry I "annoy" you. Maybe it's just that I don't turn a blind eye to your bullshit posts like most of the nice people on this board do. You just need to chill. |

..how is what I said before you posted your picture a "bullshit post"?
Also, I do not listen exclusively to 90's alt-rock, wtf? Sure, I'll admit I'm not the most varied person in the world, but I also like hip-hop, electronic, and jazz music. Not claiming I'm very knowledgable in them, but still. |

I didn't say that post was. In fact, I was agreeing with it, hence the picture I posted of a bored porn star with her mouth open. However, posts like.. sorry, not posts, but THREADS.. Threads like... well, shit, anyone that wants to click on your public profile and go to "threads started by summer" can easily find 30-40 completely bullshit, ridiculous threads you've started. But I've laughed. I don't care. I give you a hard time, but it's pretty meaningless.. usually.
Also, I don't care what you listen to, you just seem sorta close-minded in general. But then again I don't know how old you are... maybe you'll grow out of it. Meh, who cares. I feel stupider just replying to this. In message boards, you have to co-exist with people who don't agree with you or don't have the same sense of humor as you. You're not going to make it very far on this board if you constantly go "wahh you annoy me" every time someone posts something you don't like. |

No, I'm totally fine with it (mostly), just I don't understand how I come off as close-minded musically? Not that it truly matters. Also I've decided to stop with the joke posts though (again, mostly, they're too funny to abandon all together).

I can't remember, you posted some stuff about not wanting to bother listening to noise and not liking drone and stuff. That's fine... people like what they like and there's certainly not enough time in the world to listen to every amazing record. Maybe "close-minded" isn't the right word in this case. You seem like someone who might not be too interested in expanding their horizons. But again I don't know how old you are... In a way, it's difficult for me to relate to people like you, if I'm assuming things correctly. My entire point of being, my entire existence, my search for enlightenment... is based around discovery, finding something new and different... trying not to be like everyone else. I mean, I love a lot of stuff that everyone else here loves but I'm always looking for something more. I can respect your point of view, but the people who I get along with the best here are pretty similiar to me. I think that's why some people, especially newecomes, don't "get" me.
I don't want to fight with you, you definitely have no right to call anyone annoying, though.... Admittingly, some of us could probably tone down things a notch or two around here in regards to annoying posts or ridiculous pictures, but a message board is for entertainment purposes only. I know some people here come for serious, informal debates... or serious musical discussion... but then there hasn't been any good threads like that in a LONG time. I don't want to get misty-eyed and nostalgic, but either way. .. I try to do my part to entertain myself and others, I don't mean to offend you or anything when I post your "stats" and all that. I'm just having fun. I could give a fuck less what you post. It was getting out of hand and a bit ridiculous. But, hell, you can post a thousand threads. I don't really care. |

You know, I've never seen that movie. Every copy I've ever wanted is like $50-100, never been able to find even a cheap bootleg, the DVD has been delayed for like 3 years, and every time I go to download it on a torrent, it's dead.. every time I go to download on soulseek, I sit in a queue for FOREVER.
But it's an image that pffr (xavier: renegade angel, wonder showzen, delocated... also the avant garde porn flick "final flesh", also a musical act/performance arts group and also the writers/producers of... DOGGY FIZZLE TELEVISSLE?!) created. |

I'm not interested in expaning my horizons solely for the purpose of listening to music that others have not heard of, that's a bit.. odd to me. Music should be more of a social thing. It's important to share music instead of keeping it to yourself. I'm not too into drone music, yet. That's the thing. Anything that I truly enjoy, not a lot of it has been immediate, so I'm not worried. I like Earth, and that's about it when it goes for that. Not because it's a bad genre, but because I just haven't taken the time to hear enough of it so far. I probably should soon though, I've been looking for new stuff to listen to. Also, I'm ninteteen, but.. I don't get what that matters, exactly? You're saying because I'm younger I don't have any interest in expanding horizons? Cause that makes no sense. I love music, so of course I'm eager to, I'm just.. also kind of lazy in general sometimes, so there's that. >.>

Oh wow. If ever there was a movie I think you'd love, it's that one. There's a scene in a porno cinema that has to rank as one of my all-time favourites.
I wish I could sort you out with a copy but I only have a VHS copy and don't have any duping facilities at the moment. Seriously though, the first chance you get, see it. And yeah, your image is from the opening scene. |

I never said "solely for the purpose of listening to music others don't listen to." I don't care who listens to what, I'm just looking for something better! I want something more. I don't really pay attention to a band's fanbase (hence why I love Tool). .... Though, if no one's heard of it and it's great, it's a bonus -- I can hopefully give it to someone else and enhance their lives in some way. And yeah, in my experience, younger people often aren't interested in expanding their horizons.... But you're 19. I was thinking you were like 15 or something. So, nevermind. Oh well, doesn't really matter either way. Listen to what you listen to. I don't even remember what point I was trying to make earlier. OH, that's right.. contributing worthwhile things to this board.. eh, I don't care. Fuck it. Carry on!

Unfortunately for me, I've only just decided to get into drone around the time that I've been running out of codeine.
Grouper and codeine has been a pretty nice time. |

Wow, that's amazing then. I guess they just took the image and added those words to it and.. uh.. the priest at the door or whatever. Or is that in the movie itself (I know the words aren't)? Yeah, I know I'd love the movie, but ... yeah. It's supposedly coming to DVD through code red sometime this year, I just checked imdb. If you want to risk it and need some cash, you could totally sell your vhs copy and make a ton of money real fast before the DVD comes out! It's so rare that there aren't even used copies listed on amazon for it at all anymore. |

Man, that's how my life has been for years now... Drone and codeine. Hahaha. The first time I listened to Sunn O)))... not "hearing" them but REALLY listening... I had drank a 4th of a bottle of the codeine cough syrup shit.. and it blew my mind... Opiates are addicting though. I've cut back to like half a pill a day, haha. I was doing like 3 or 4 a day (which may not seem like much but I'm barely over 100 lbs...). |
