I don't think it's possible for a man and a woman to completely break up, ever (if they've been together for a long time or if they truely know each other beyond just on a shallow level). It's like expecting the black death to not kill people... those two people will always be apart of each other.

This has been, personally, my biggest.. erm.. FAULT.. in life. I've always strived to help people, open people's minds, open people's eyes, open people's hearts. I've tried to be completely selfless, because I want the people I love, to be happy. Even at the expense of my own happiness. I guess I enjoy the abuse to some extent, I like knowing that they care enough to abuse me. Does that make sense? Well, you can't hate someone without loving them at some point -- you can't truely HATE, truely feel that strongly for someone, without loving them at some point, because the opposite of love isn't hate -- it's indifference, because love and hate are two emotions that go hand in hand. Makes me wonder if all of us are truely meant to be happy, as there is no easy way to do anything in life, nothing is black and white. There's no way to just go to work, come home, fuck someone you love, go to bed, and feel fulfilled. There has to be some new tragedy, some new form of bullshit, every day. Even when you feel like you're totally, 100% in love.. there's some form of baggage involved.

because it's not that simple. We have a son, and she's leaving as soon as she can afford to. I'm pretty cool with that at this point, though if she fucks everything up and comes crawling back, I don't know what I'll do. I'm looking to make my options a bit better should that be where it's headed.

I don't think we ever competely know anyone -- not even ourselves.

I think I know my ex-old lady better than I know myself, though, if only because she's quite predictable. Still, she had some pretty fucking shocking revelations for me over the years. I find comfort in knowing that it's pretty much impossible for her to ever grow close enough to another human being to reveal that side of her (considering we'd known each other and been madly in love for 6 or 7 years before all the weird little truths came out -- or had to be forced out, really). I mean, that's kinda awesome. On the other hand, it bothers me that she doesn't recognize that... she thinks everyone out there is just like me or something, she thinks she can just go and get with someone else and they'll take care of her like I have/do. She's just so immature, she's 22 but she acts like she just turned 14. At this rate, maybe we'll be able to get back together when she's 30.

I went out with that other girl last week and it just didn't do anything for me. Beautiful feet aside, I just.. it just.. um.. yeah. IT JUST WASN'T THE SAME. I broke it off with her before that got too far. Obviously, nothing will be the same. I'd rather have the same.. or just be alone right now. Fuck it.

I'm refraining all judgment and expect no further explanation from you because 1) we are two strangers on the internet and 2) it's none of my fucking business and I don't know all of the details, but I will say this:

If she's living with you until she can afford to live on her own (meaning she is still being supported by you to some degree), she can't have her cake and eat it too. She should at least have the decency to wait until she's truly separate before she starts seeing other men. Taking what she wants and needs from a new partner and her old partner at the same time is simply selfish.
