Tacoma, thus being next to the Sonics on the list. The Jamaican group, to my knowledge, was pretty much a '70s phenomena. |

Speaking of Tangerine Dream, the German band by that name did a great album in 1969 called Electronic Meditation. Despite the title and their later descent into near new age synthiness, this is an album full, believe it or not, of distorted noisy guitar electronics. Plus some cool psychy synths too, but that's more to be expected. |

Indeed, Electronic Meditation is utterly, utterly ace. I don't know if later Tangerine Dream decended into "near new age synthiness" as much as became the definition of crap new age synthiness.

Damn right, Electonic Meditation is unbelievable good, one of my recent favourites. I canīt get into their later stuff, though
back to topic : The Sonics Bruce Haack Serge Gainsbourg (& Jane Birkin) Can (for Monster Movie & Delay 1968) Embryo (i think they released some stuff in the sixtees) .. . . . . |

Yes, great and really odd record. Ghost covered Caledonia on their latest record. I haven't heard it yet, should be interesting.

Anyone got links to White Noise MP3s online? I'm quite anxious to actually hear them as they sound like the perfect group for my tastes from all I've read, but searching for the name "White Noise" brings up pages and pages of stuff that's not them. |

A couple of links, but no mp3's as of yet. A while back, I found a blog with downloads, but can't remember where... http://www.whitenoise.org.uk/ http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Feb0...vidvorhaus.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Noise_(band)

love that album.
scary as fuck. here's a great thread from the atease messageboard (although probably only the last three pages or so of record links are still unexpired) sunshine, bubblegum, baroque & psychedelia, 60's/70's pop, obscure and familiar |

(also caetano veloso, gilberto gil, gal costa... i think os mutantes were the only tropicalia artists mentioned so far... or are they all usual suspects?) |

USA were fantastic. Their subsequent incarnation as Joseph Byrd and the Field Hippies wasn't too shabby either.
West Coast 60s psychedelia isn't my favorite stuff of this era, but USA were amazing. Another criminally underrated group in that scene is the mighty Kak, whose LP has been reissued a few times. |

Oooh, Country Joe and the Fish. Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die rag at least. Not ultra-obscure or anything but no one has mentioned them.
