People who hear 2 damn White Stripes songs assume he's a sellout, a tosser and should really do a bit more research before making these sort of assumptions.

I know. Much as I love the old Stooges records, I really wish they wouldn't do this. |

havnt read the thread, but the feeling of nausea ive got from the first few posts, and the disbelief that some people seem to think itws a good idea...... oh dear.
jack white? i thought i payed to have him shot. whats he doing with the stooges? eh? im livid. theyre gonna have a hard job doing anything worth a millionth of their past stuff wthout jack fucking white bolloxing it up. whats the world coming too? i mean, they still rock live, playing the old stuff, but you can see with your earholes closed that the ashetons cant play anywhere near the level that made us all love em. iggys still good but its not riding on the vocals. a bad idea if i ever heard one. they managed to get back together 35 years on and not shame themselves, but they feel the need to push it. i hope in completely wrong, but i have a feeling im not, and i will feel hard done by, whether thats right of me or not. |

UPDATE
First new Stooges album for 3 decades set for release Artists: The Stooges Punk n' roll legends The Stooges are to release their first new material in 33 years in the form of new album The Weirdness. The band played two heavily-attended sets at this weekend's All Tomorrow's Parties Nightmare Before Christmas event. With a release date pencilled in for the 20th March 2007, most of the recording has already been done with uber-producer Steve Albini at the helm. Track titles for the record include: 'Trollin' 'Greedy Awful People' 'Claustrophobia' 'Mexican Guy' 'I'm Fried' 'ATM' 'O Solo Mio' 'She Took My Money' 'End Of Christianity' The band retains three quarters of the original 1967 line-up, as well as original sax player Steve Mackay. Iggy Pop's face was recently reported to be more than 60% leather, though this has yet to be confirmed by official sources. http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/1403745 |

it's probably going to sound like bad david bowie with ron ashton playing solos over it.
and i have heard several white stripes songs, most of them are awful and annoying and all if which are knock offs from other bands. sellout? i thought the point was that he was a sellout in the first place, or i'm not sure, is billy joel a selll out? |

I'm certainly curious. Could be great, could suck.
Lets not forget that Iggy has done many really bad and boring albums in recent years before signing up with the old boys again. I'd like to think Albini wouldn't touch it if it weren't at least good, but that'd probably come down to how much he was paid. I don't hate Jack White particularly, but it is a sad statement that he was needed to get the "indie" kids to give a fuck. I'm sure White "producing" Iggy amounts to, "O.k., I'll be right back with that capacino Mr. Pop, er, Stooge, uh, can I call you Ig... nevermind, that's double tall with soy milk, right?" |

What I read him say years ago was the more he likes the band the less he charges, but when a mega-label's footing the bill, I'm sure he has a lawyer to milk it for him. Who wouldn't? |

Ow, that doesn't bode well. I couldn't even listen to the whole thing. It just sounds like something off a bad Iggy Pop album from 5 or 6 years ago. Shame. |

O well, I didn't have high hopes for this anyway. I mean, cmon-- Iggy did his last album with green day and SUM 41--- of course he's going to bring back the stooges after he worked with the most decredifying supporting cast ever.
