Blue rules
Pinkerton might rule a little more Green sucks it hard (except Hash Pipe, Photograph, and Don't Let Go) Maldroit is listenable and has some good moments Make Believe I found a considerably good. The song writing just seemed like it got pretty honest on most of that one. I bought the Red Album cause I liked Pork N Beans. I didn't like anything on there but that one. I've tried to listen to the cd three times. I don't think I'll even try again. And after that, I gave up. Some people earlier on made a good point of saying that there's much better things to spend money on. Which is true, which is true. But, they should take a god damn hint! Did anyone know they did a song with Lil Wanye? EDIT-Oh, and Bob Dylan rules. Free Wheelin Bob Dylan, John Wesley Harding, Highway 61, Bringing It All Back Home, Time Out Of Mind ect. ect. |

The Blue Album and Pinkerton were some of my favourite albums as a kid.
Oh, and I've always thought Bob Dylan was shit. |

Seriously man, to each his own, but if you're dismissing everything Dylan released that wasn't Blonde On Blonde (which is, incidentally, a decent candidate for my all time favourite album), I just feel sorry for you. You have cut yourself off from a vast number of the greatest songs ever written, in terms of just pure lyrical mastery as much as anything else. I mean for one, as a hip-hop fan, you should appreciate that no one ever flowed like Dylan. To say you'll never want to give the time of day to, say, 'It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)' because you think it sound a bit 60s, is like saying you can't be bothered with Shakespeare because some of the words are spelled funny. As to Weezer, I've always liked what I've heard from the first 2 albums, but never got around to actually buying them. I'll get the Pinkerton reissue when it comes out, and expect to love it. Everything else I've heard by them has pretty much seemed totally sucky to me, so I just haven't listened to it. I'm going to go listen to 'Another Side Of Bob Dylan'.

Does the other side of him suck less? In all seriousness though, my issue with Dylan isn't that he sounds 'a bit 60s', it's much more that he sounds a bit like a turd that's been floating too long in toilet water, and has started to decompose... with a harmonica. If I wanted to listen to quality 60's folk tunes I'd much sooner turn to The Mamas & the Papas or The Grass Roots, or hell - even Charles Manson! |

Dr. Eugene, you might like Self Portrait becuz it's a horrible mess of shit on purpose. It's like a joke album. Also you might like Shot Of Love becuz of Daniel Lenois' production. And maybe you'd like albums recorded around the same time as Blonde On Blonde. I have I don't know 30-40 Bobby D albums. I love many. I won't pretend Blond On Fukking Blonde isn't my favorite though.
Weezer: Blue - classic Pinkerton - classic Green - good Maladroit - good Make Believe - never heard the whole thing Red - good new one - haven't heard but yeah there's a Lil Wayne song on there, so Dr Eugene mentioning him in this thread sort of had some synergy. Iridion II is amazing. I'm so glad I beat it last night. THe end music is insane. Plus now I've unlocked the arcade mode and some other shit. It's such an amazing game though. My favorite GBA Shmups are Iridion II, Phalanx (port), and Invader. Anyway, playing Iridion II with an arcade stick just makes so much sense. It plays so smoothly that way. Highly recommended. Also I wanted to note that the soundtraack is available on Amazon.com as a mp3 download. It was only released on CD in low numbers in 2003, but got a digital re-release in the US this year. But if anyone can find me the actual CD I'd love to buy it.

As opposed to his other albums that are horrible messes of shit on accident? I'm good on that, dude. There are only so many hours in a day, and so many days in a week, and so on, and so forth; and there is so much music I've yet to expose myself to, as well as current favorites that I'd rather spend my time with. I only like listening to the best of the best... y'know, like the Insane Clown Posse! |

I've never liked dylan, he's like jesus you can't criticize him, everyone worships his lyrics but his music is so boring and his recital so grating I can't pay attention. Of course, he did turn the Beatles onto pot and that changed everything... |

I've never liked Dylan either, but he's probably a better songwriter than Rivers. Then again, any 12-year-old with a guitar is, so that's not saying much...

First of all:
Buddy Holly was more prolific than Bob Dylan. I'll take raw rock n roll honesty over pretty words written by hippies. 2nd of all: Pinkerton? Bland? WTF? There is so much raw energy and melodic intricate guitar work on that album. And its not compressed like the blue. Half of the Blue Album is amazing. The other half is decent if not mediocre and cliche. Pinkerton was their peak. Nuff said. 3rd: Matt Sharp was River's saving grace, the two of them combined were WEEZER. Brian Bell wasnt even an original member I think... Matt Sharp kept Rivers in check. He was the john lennon to rivers mcartney. Thats why the rentals kicked ass and weezer without matt sharp suck dick. 4th: OZMA is better than weezer. At least their 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th records are. Their 1st record was probably equal to weezer. 5th: Wait Ozma only had 4 albums. 6th: WHY THE FUCK ARE WE TALKING ABOUT WEEZER haha? for real skronk skronk skronk *im just gonna go over here and skronk now* |
