Just don't eat it. Don't worry if McDonald's still exists, just don't eat it.

good discussion y'all. I really enjoyed reading the differing opinions here. my final two-cents, we as americans eat bullshit for breakfast lunch and dinner, but it is not all our own faults, because we are SOLD this crap, MARKETED this crap, and the affects of this crap on our bodies and minds makes eating it compulsive. And as it was pointed out, I am not talking about Fast Food Nation, I am talking about the food at the so-called grocery store. For example, why does a pop tart or a box of cereal have to have between 25-75% sugar? Why does there have to be so much extra fat added to all our prepared foods? Why is there so much fucking salt in everything? I say the food industry puts excessive amounts in this food because, duh, common sense says it makes the food 'taste' better (until you go vegan and have a moment of clarity like a drunk or a smoker and realize it was never really good at all), but the exploitative aspect is that these companies KNOW that customers prefer these products even if it risks their health.
This same debate went around the 70s-80s about tobacco, when everyone said "oh its a smoker's choice" and all that, and we accepted tobacco as a reasonable part of our society, and now today.. tobacco is considered EVIL! Eventually we will come to our senses just like with tobacco, and restrict this garabage, its selling, its advertising and marketing, etc etc. In america we as americans have unprecedented access to REAL food, and yet we avoid it like the plague, and prefer to eat the bullshit that is literally killing us Quote:
yes, didn't you notice that I framed that confession with the statement "I am overwhelmed with self-pity and disgust.." Quote:

I'm addicted to food in general. I'd be hard pressed to go a month without it. I think I'd die.

this thread almost makes me want to leave. It's why i don't often get into discussions here.. I'm always suprised at attitudes and ignorance. Guess i shouldn't be, but i have hope.. So i usually am.

who ever said there was? I find it just typical and really aggressive that now after you've raged on because you happen to disagree, have made a sig, and turned to being down right rude. It's odd to me. It's something that the smaller amount of posters whom i really like and respect don't do.

i'm sure if suchfriends lived in any other country, the thread would have been titled as such. It is about america because he lives there. Perhaps it's a difficult thing to see, but if you lived in any other country you might be used to the ranting that comes from a lot of american people whenever anyone says anything remotely critical. That said, again.. I don't dislike american people.. How could I when the robot is one? Or even the country.. Whatever. I have problems with policy and i disagree with a lot of things that exist there but the reason i do so is due largely to the indirect effect those things will have on my own life, other countries, my kids.. Etc. I'd really love to have a nice long conversation about it but it's more difficult on here to have interaction than talking in real life..

I didn't say Americans are the devil for eating terrible food, I said the bullshit companies that exploit WE americans are fucked up, and you went and got your panties in a bunch. jesus man, get over it. Americans are great people, I should know, I live here.. in fact thats what pisses me off so much, that these fucked up companies are doing this to very good people. maybe its you who needs to have their mind opened up
