That band is a one trick pony.
Sidelong crescendo, I get it. |

Worked really well for a few years, but then, yeah... they needed to switch it up when they “reunited.” I lost interest. Didn’t even buy their last album. Skinny Fists is a freaking classic though. Everyone should own that album. |

Thought I made that clear. Because it’s a classic? Because it is very good? Of course I don’t mean literally everyone in the world, but.. yeah. I feel like it’s a pretty self-explanatory statement. Why not? |

ha ha ha yes but you work with words, you merchandise peddler! we’re all ideology vectors, knowingly or not. “buy buy buy” makes me itchy. i’m trying to sell ha ha ha. i don’t want things. not no more. anyway let’s now discuss classic albums of the millennial clap-hey persuasion. |

the downsize has been going on for a decade now. started with the last recession! realized that i was burying myself in shit and creating burdensome dependences that bred financial fragility. learned about personal finance, reformed budgets and expectations, and the ridding of stuff was a consequence of all that, more than pursuing minimalism for its own sake. i no longer have the contents of a 3-bedroom house and a business storage unit and an office rental. i’ve sold/donated 75% of it maybe? but i still have TOO MUCH SHIT. mostly in (free) storage. but why is it so hard to part with it? this is insanity. i could have burned my books and not make a difference. but i still “keep them” as the fetish they are lololol. i think i should sell them, trade them, something. “because...” lololol. i’m ridiculous. i should give them away. the last fetish. anyway used to be it would take me about a month to move house with all the packing and actual moving days and unpacking etc. nowadays i can move house in a day and without help. if the shit hits the fan i’m ready to go. i’m constantly editing possessions, and it’s great to have SPACE. i also avoid precious possessions consciously. everything needs to be replaceable, cheaply. of course having cheap access to media and information via the internet makes much of this possible. no longer need walls covered in books and bins of records. but i also edit tools, kitchen tools, work implements, vehicles, wardrobe big time, etc. i did consider soylent and getting rid of cooking per some stuff that n’ik/deadbattery shared here, but just can’t do it. i really enjoy cooking/eating too much. but i dont need 1000 tools for it— i avoid unitaskers and complications. i cook once and week and eat all week from there. i’m trying to get rid of furniture next! ha ha ha ha. seriously. we’ve given away tons of furniture but we still have some. i’ve been looking at bedouins and traditional japanese settings and trying to figure out how to implement some of technologies for greater comfort and mobility. i kinda hate chairs these days lol. |

I understand. I've done some donesizing in the past year or so but nothing huge. It is true that we let our things own us sometimes. Though I also think that there's this weird urge to point to physical objects to explain "this is me". I don't know.

and that is precisely what marketers exploit. that is exactly why hipster consumerism is just more middle class bullshit under a different costume. this is why hippies became yuppies, young people become their parents, etc. but we’re not “those things” though. those things are a trap. those things make us believe that we actually exist haaaa haaaaa haaaaa biggest burden of all. toss, toss, toss... |

I totally agree with everything you said in that post.
I'm just not quite there yet myself. It's like knowing smoking is bad for you but still smoking anyway...

that’s okay man
everyone has their own pace but in the future just think of donald trump’s tacky-ass gilded penthouse “this is me...” that is where “this is me” leads to haaaa haaaa haaaa me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me... |

Lulz. For now my This Is Me is like Nirvana bootlegs and Dino Jr shirts. Maybe only slightly less tacky.

Listened to the Deftones Adrenaline album yesterday and I don't know. I used to love these guys but it sounded so like aggro and obnoxious that I kept skipping tracks. Not sure if I've outgrown them or if it's just this album or what.
Today it's that SY Plato's Cave disc w Mike Kelley.
