after giving it a few listens, i can say that the album is good, but not as outstanding as it's made out to be, some of those experiments just don't work and then songs, especially on the first half, are too short to really get into. the first half is kinda boring, while the second half is simply majestic, murderer being my personal favorite song.

So far my favourites are 'Violent Past' and 'Murderer'(what a tune!).After repeated listenings it feels a bit more fragmented an album than their previous ones but it still shits on so much stuff that passes for genius these days.My only disppointment is that they seem to have concentrated more on the sounds than the vocals but it is indeed a small matter as Low are Low and there is only one Low.

actually, i really here more of the alan/mimi harmonies on this one more than the great destroyer, which they sort of left a little at the side to focus more on rock songs (i do think of tgd as an experimental record for them as well as d&g), my beef is that they don't let them flow as much.
as i said it, the last half of the album and especially the last two songs on it are MAJESTIC! |

The vocals seem less intricated and,as you said, they should have let them stretch and flow like only they can do.I can see what you mean about The Great Destroyer. You have to pardon my wild enthusiasm but this is the only band that could convince me to set foot into a church other than for a wedding or a funeral.
