Apparently they're from Minnesota, but I may be wrong. Most of their songs are kind of irritating, but I love Tina haha Tina if you really love me you'll let me eat your brains

but if you like the stuff, why are you ashamed? Did you grow up Catholic. It's all the explicit sexual references, isn't it. Remember, it's only rock n roll...

In my Mass Media class, we had to read an article in which some lady was talking about how she felt guilty for liking the Rolling Stones. Let me actually show this part to you: The Rolling Stones trouble me. As much as I love their music, it periodically grates against my sensibilities and produces spasms of feminist guilt. 'What am I doing,' my inner voice inquires, 'dancing around and getting crazy to such blatant misogyny?' I have encountered other women who share my passion for listening to, collecting, accumulating knowledge of and talking about popular music, and more than a few of these women hate the Stones and won't listen to them because of the misogyny problem.I think the phrase "spasms of feminist guilt" is sending me into spasms of my own. Now, I realize many people just flat-out don't like them, and not for the reasons above, but because of the actual music. As much as I disagree with that opinion, it's still loads better than someone telling me that they "feel so guilty" listening to Under My Thumb or Brown Sugar or whatever. A friend of mine, who I probably shouldn't call 'a friend' as I never liked her and ditched her ass weeks ago, got free tickets from her parents to the Stones concert that was here in Chicago just this past October. She invited me, and I went despite the weather being 30-40 degrees (it was at Soldier Field) and we had really good seats. I think her parents are rich. Anyway, that's not the point. The point is that I hate her, and I should have expected this, but when they played Under My Thumb, she basically talked my ear off through the whole song about how she "felt guilty" for listening to it and singing along, and I thought "Who's singing? You're too busy explaining yourself to someone who really doesn't give a shit." And she did the same thing when they played Brown Sugar. God I just wanted to strangle the life out of her. She's a fucking joke. I mean, this is the same girl who is always complaining about the girl to guy ratio at our school and how it's so hard to find a straight, single guy here. And blah blah blah........just.....who cares? Really, who cares? I don't want to listen to that shit. And she still feels the need to make excuses for liking the Rolling Stones. She didn't even know half the songs they played anyway, and after the concert complained about how they played "too many new songs", when in reality only two of the songs were new. So it's no wonder that she has such a one-sided view of the band, if all she's listening to is 40 Licks for christsake. Her favorite song of theirs is "Miss You." I kind of want to kill her, sometimes. I mean it's probably a good thing that we're not still hanging out. Then again, when I met her, she was wearing a David Bowie shirt and she asked me if I listened to him, and I said yeah, and I later found out that she doesn't have a single album of his (whether an actual copy, or a downloaded copy, or anything). And she had never heard one of his records. Her David Bowie collection basically amounts to having "Rebel Rebel" and "Heroes" on her iPod. Usually I really don't care about any of this stuff, honestly, because I never in real life try to bond over music with people. But I just hate her so much, and she's all talk with nothing to back that up, so stuff like this really began to grate on my nerves.

Fitting, considering who I'm talking to. Let me speak clearly, since I still think you're probably retarded, or as I said before, just hard of hearing: Usually, people who either dislike Michael Jackson or are "ashamed" to like his songs have an otherwise shitty taste in music.

oh no-- the cantanky may at times be an unbearable showboat, but she definitely display more wit, knowledge and a sense of humor than that person there... besides, i'm pretty sure the cantank gets laid plenty, whereas this better-than-nobody person needs it desperately... |

I don't have suspicions of Cantankerous being behind it (like you said, if she were, it would be much more amusing), but I also don't think that this person is "real," so to speak.

I'm not retarded or hard of hearing. I just think its insane that you're trying to base my whole musical taste on a statement about being ashamed to like thriller. The song was fucking corny. |
