The only reason we won't hear any Washing Machine era songs is because they forget how to play them. Same goes for ATL. Junkies promise had that mini guitar that lee played....its like red.....maybe we'll never ever hear THAT song again. I have a sneaky suspicion that if they learn any Washing Machine songs again it will be either 'Saucer-Like' or 'Diamond Sea' |

They can still play all of the ATL tunes. The gear was stolen DURING the ATL tour. They're just sick of that stuff.
Skip Tracer was played at some festival in Brazil last year, too. |

Even if they did forget them how to play them, they still have the tunings written down along with the finger position and they have the record to refresh their memory. It's not like they need a score or something. I seriously think the gear they used back then is vital to play those songs. |

travis beans are not common not too many of them around, also if you look there are two cracks on the body around where the neck meets, you see it in both photos, they are in the identical spot... thats how you know that those two pictures are the same guitar. pretty impossible to have another guitar w/ the exact blemishes like that. its looks like from the photo on the left whoever had the guitar obviously tried to refinish it to hide the fact that it was a stolen guitar, but they must've realized that they totally fucked it and couldn't do anymore to save the original hack job that was done (it looks so bad like it was dipped in an acid bath) i wonder if these people steal cars and try to refinish them like they do instruments? |

Sonic Youth does have trouble relearning all of their songs! Thurston said in some interview I read before the murray street tour saying they were trying to learn how to figure out 'The Sprawl' but relearning all of those songs is hard.

NATN: How much do the band’s shows vary from night to night? Or, how many songs are you rehearsed on? Do you guys ever have the urge to play a random track off of, say, Washing Machine?
TM:[Laughs] We have the urge, but the ability is another question, because a lot of it has to do with, what the hell tuning was I playing in? And it’s like, if you don’t have that notated and you can pull it out of your notebook -- and I have no notebook. I don’t have this stuff written down anywhere. It takes so much detective work for me to get back into a song, even from then. It becomes really problematic. NATN: Can I make a request for “Saucer-Like”? TM:“Saucer-Like?” That’s on the list! I’ll throw it in the hat. |

Fender Jazzmaster's are great guitars. I get so tired of people who knock them.

Thing I like about Thurston and his guitar choices, he's not like Eric Clapton and those classic rock jerks who will only play guitars that cost the equivalent of a loaded Jaguar sports coupe. Thurston goes for cheap and funky.

I didn't think Jazzmasters were all that much. More than a thousand, certainly. But Clapton plays acoustic guitars that cost as much as a car. I think that's just conspicuous.

eric clapton is a jackass anyway. i really don't care how much his guitar costs.
jazzmasters are more than i'm willing to pay. at least $1000 for a new one.

the list price for a new jazzmaster is $1999.99-$2049.99
the vintage ones are $500-$600 on the cheap end on ebay, and that is in shitty condition

They're a lot more expensive than they used to be. In the early 80s no one was playing them and they were extremely cheap. Fucking Cobain.
