Pretty sad, honestly, though not too surprising -- you do hardcore amounts of drugs, you will probably die.
Slipknot's self-titled, mate.feed.kill.repeat., and most of Iowa are awesome records. |

Slipknot is one of those bands that I grew up listening to since I was 10 years old. The group has always been a reliable figure in my life, that I felt would be around until my hair began to grey (no pun intended).
I can understand someone not liking Slipknot's music, but you have to admit that the entire band is a lot less douchey than someone like Bono - and there was hell to pay when death wishes were dropped in his hopsital thread. Or maybe it's just because I champion Nu-Metal in the same sense that others worship Motley Crue, Poison, and Winger... |

For the record, it's not okay to listen to any of those. Anyways, a man is dead. Sad. He was a junkie. Expected. Can we move on? More interesting junkies die every day.

I'm usually apathetic towards celebrity deaths, but this one hit surprisingly close to home for me. I don't know why I expected this thread to be sincere, it just caught me off-guard, is all.

man i don't understand how people don't get that i can rip on and make jokes about the guy or whatever subject it is and still like the music. im just making fun of the fact that he died. not his actual death. just the media simulation.
dont let this turn into another joanna newsom thread. i actually quite like slipknot. we must create a world together were it is possible to mercilessly rip on shit without everyone taking it as somehow an intent of actual offence against people. i would hope if i made music and died people wouldn't pay any attention to my shitty life and focus on the music instead, or what i had actually done or left behind. hell, rip away, laugh at my death if you even pay any attention to it at all. better than moping. its all comedy anyway unless you are actually living thru it then its tragedy. but viewed from any other angle its just comedy. like the greatest suffering, viewed from any other angle but for the one suffering it. that's great dont you think? he took drugs and he died. sucks. but i'm not going to respect that. oh now that he's dead its so tragic but when he was alive who was interested in helping him out? like you do your music man, and stay away from us, play your role, be the big rockstar and party like one. jeez its not sad, its stupid. you do meth, crack, heroin, coke, booze, shit like this is gonna happen. fortunately the human mind has the capacity to refuse to take these substances in the first place. you get on them, you've just lost a shitload of years of your life already and you're in for hell. sucks. im not saying that just because it was a substance abuse related death its any less of a death. but shit, why not laugh at all deaths. dont have fucking time to get all mopey and start mythologising heroes because we secretly wished they were immortal but its sad to be reminded of our continual suppression of our own mortality. all this "show some respect" stuff. wtf. hey whenever i die dont waste your fucking time showing any respect. piss on my fucking corpse if you want. what the fuck do i care im dead. im gone, to decompose back into nutrients and chemicals and the earth and plants and shit. back to something useful. its not like my self is trapped in some box or "with god now". you can rip me out all you want and dress my corpse in lingerie and waltz around with it. all we can actually do is STOP people from ever touching the aforementioned drugs. prob not likely you're going to stop people from doing alcohol, but the rest? of course. sure the teachers/government/parents only feed kids shit, absolute lies and bullshit which they know is true, and so they think "this shit must be really great if they are prohibiting it like this! its so dangerous and exciting!". said kids look to older dudes, musicians whatever. would be cool if they saw a culture that told them, hey we've tried this shit already, its a fucking scam. dont bother with it. instead of "drugs are so cool! they make you creative! im such a fucking rebel cos i do drugs! fuck you mom!". they actually wreck your creativity. at best they can give you false energy and loosen up a bit of self concioussness. in the end they will make you WORSE at everything. its not like any of us knew the guy. would be different if we did. but what happened to him is gonna keep happening until - 1. they get rid of the ridiculous prohibition laws that only redirect money to the government/cia black ops, corrupt cops, politicians etc. (the entire world economy would collapse without drug money btw. so dont pretend its "counter cultural", its the ultimate in capitalist slavery. it makes you're fucking reason for existance involve getting cash and moving it into someone elses pocket in a way no other commodity can. with a demonic posession that they fucking WISH they could get from all of us) 2. we get rid of the FUCKING STUPID MYSTIFICATION AND ROMANTICISATION OF DRUGS thats left over from the 60's. 3. these substances become unacceptable. in the same way you would fucking go consume all the products meth is made of. you don't go and drink beakers of random shit from your chemistry lab at school. watching videos of this guy he does seem pretty sound. but what do you think got him to try these drugs in the first place? you sure it wasn't some sort of vice magazine nihlistic pose, mixed with "oh my god im doing drugs this is so cool" and a dose of curiosity and desire to fit in? these are all things WE can contribute to getting rid of. the self hate and suffering that causes people to want to destroy themselves with this shit is harder to cure but you can at least explain to them - hey - you feeling shit? put some better stuff into your brain, eat some raw fish, nuts, green veg. you'll actually feel a lot better and smarter and cooler if you do that. depression is chemical, pysh meds DO NOT work by the way, but good exercise and good food DO. fact. we don't know enough about the brain yet, but we are getting there. we're still in the dark ages, only beginning to understand what it is, so until we can grasp its workings completely, you got to do the best you can with the knowledge you have. eat some fruit, some green veg, fresh nuts, fresh fish, eat like that for a week and you'll see a massive difference. it can at least get you healthy enough to be able to rationally grasp and deal with your problems, which you cant do being stoned/depressed/drunk/full of junk food. and one more thing. drugs are not a "moral" issue, or an issue of "weakness or strength". its fucking material/chemical/phyiscal. the problem with drug addicts is they start beating the shit out of themselves. "oh i cant quit!" i just feeds their self hatred. thats not going to help. you will quit if your brain is able to. you just have to facilitate it the best you can. its always possible. the younger the better. but with shit like heroin, coke, crack etc. it is VERY hard. still possible but VERY hard. its not some moral "strength" you need, its knowledge on how to deal with your brain. what to eat, how to exercise, etc. |

Owner of chimp in mauling attack dies
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A Connecticut woman whose chimpanzee mauled and blinded her friend last year has died, her attorney said Tuesday. Sandy Herold died Monday night of a ruptured aortic aneurysm, lawyer Robert Golger said.
Herold's 200-pound chimpanzee, Travis, who went berserk in February 2009 after Herold asked her friend, Charla Nash, to help lure it back into her house in Stamford. The animal ripped off Nash's hands, nose, lips and eyelids before the animal was shot and killed by police.
YR MASTERS WILL HAVE YOU BELIEVE THAT THIS IS ALL JUST A COINCIDENCE.

just curious, is this band associated with heroin? All the news I see say "The cause of death has not been determined but foul play was not suspected".
That said, there are reports of very powerful heroin in the US from Mexico/Columbia, people are OD'ing from snorting it, which is unusual I think. Meanwhile, in Afghanistan, half the crop is being lost to fungus. |
