I remember going to CBGBs awhile back, years ago, I was tripping on acid with some friends while walking around New York. It was totally awesome and surreal. The bathroom at CBGB's is a tourist sight in itself, it was covered with all this cool artwork and graffiti. I remember my car almost breaking down on the way back home, we barely made it back alive.

If somebody were to write a NYC rock scene guidebook, Thurston would be the guy to do it. There used to be a walking tour of the village/ LES that hits lot of those NYC rock music spots, I dont know if that is still happening though. Also, Great Jones Cafe? Mark Ibold is a bartender there, go say hello...

No, you're quite right - you'e not having a creamsicle moment.

I remember reading about a rock star tourist guide... various rock musicians writing about their home city.

Maybe Steve's pulling your leg?

Moshe, I'm sorry to tell you this, but your kids keep emailing me, asking me to get you to stop playing that "old man music" and play some hip-hop instead. They think you're uncool

That street is also where the velvet underground lived for a while. John Cale was the main tennant, and they practised/sometimes lived in it. I've read a story about some cops pestering them because of their antics. One of them was about a complaint received which involved excreta being thrown out of the window.
