I used to have a couple of white rats when I was about 10 years old.
One night, when my grandma was visiting us, they got loose and crawled into her bed. She didn't like rats. Next day they were gone.

I used to have a mouse called Sunny. He pretended to be a girl so he was bought with a bunch of girls, but when we realised he was a boy he had to be separated from the girls. He lived on his own and lived to the old age of two. He was a bit fat, once I bought pictures of him into school (for an artwork) and everyone else thought he was a guinea pig.

I think it should depend on how much room you have. Huskys need a lot of room do they not?

Go with the Husky.
May I please suggest the possibility of a Keeshond? (CAZE-hond) How can you resist? or maybe a Samoyed? (some Samoyeds do get fairly large though) The Keeshond breed is exceptionally intelligent and animated. The markings with all of these vary and you'll want to buy from a good breeder. Pay more if you have to for the one with the best markings and other characteristics associated with the AKC listing for the breed. Keeshonden also have fur that is hypoallergenic. Their dense fur undercoat naturally tends to keep them from acquiring any typical "doggy" smell too. |

or even maybe an Alaskan Malamute?
(some Malamutes are much "thicker" than others) They are the oldest of the Arctic spitz breeds. The Alaskan Malamute below looks like it has some Kees or Husky or Samoyed background: |

Naaaah, you couldn't beat the original writer. The Rats was THE book when I was a kid. EVERYONE read it at school. Now all the kids read Harry Potter. Oh how the times they are a changin'. I read it again last year actually and it turned out to be one of the few books I read first as a young teenager which still stands up now. |

I dazzle and delight, and, in many cases, command attention when stimulated, actually.
That juvenile James Herbert horror book looks like the nightmare. (See how I even refuse to use the word "novel" when describing it.) And rats as pets, that's another nightmarishly stupid scenario, but, please don't get me started. Yeah, yeah, if one doesn't have the room for a dog or whatever. I suppose it's one's own prerogative to become known as the guy with the rat if that's what they're into for whatever reason. whatever |

I've definitely noticed their growing popularity amongst students at the campus I work at, which is slowly becoming choc-a-bloc with them. And I'm convinced some health issues are gonna emerge out of the whole sorry situation.

I have been called the rat lady and similar names before, and I take no offence. One guy who called me that actually apologize for saying it haha. I laughed at him. I don't see why someone would be ashamed to own a certain type of pet. Like if someone were to call me the dog woman... whatever haha. Or a lizard lady (if I had lizards). You get the point... My boys are awesome and I show them off. One time Ainsley went on a trip to the store with me

those are sweet, but i'd never submit a husky to hot weather. i'm actually looking around for a good guard dog. i am unaccustomed to living in a house and i'd like to put a dog in charge of "securing the perimeter" (ha). but seriously, i'm looking around. i want a shepherd. i'd get a rottweiler but i fear for my cat if he puts a hurt on the kitty i'll gut the bastard alive |
