as well as what other people have mentioned it's good to see the stalin, shonen knife, jun togawa & YMO in the list, although YMO is obvious, and that happy end album is dull as ditchwater.

I've never heard of The Stalin but a name like that deserves a look.

I could be wrong, but I've always been under the impression that Cornelius is a huge star in Japan, so that wouldn't make it odd at all. Especially not as it's Rolling Stone who compiled it. |

One Shonen Knife album on there and it's NOT "Pretty Little Baka Guy/Live in Japan". No, I don't approve.

i actually find it very fascinating that shonen knife are even in the list, the more i think about it; considering they used to hide their names so no one knew who they were in order to keep their jobs.

You're not wrong at all, I was thinking about that myself and remembered that Cornelius IS a big star in Japan. Boredoms are popular enough to merit a higher ranking, though. I have to say that every single Japanese person I have known in my life loathes Boredoms. I'm kind of puzzled and pleased at how The Jacks have been ranked. |

Not suprised at the Guitar Wolf entry, but suprised at the one for Friction. Wasn't Reck (ex-Teenage Jesus) in them at one point? Shame that High Rise weren't in there, but whaddya gonna do?

Again, the Shonen Knife choice seems less odd to me if you consider that it was their major label debut (let's say it was their "Goo") and the one that maybe lifted them to a somewhat larger audience.... it's Rolling Stone Japan.
But of course Jenn is right in her choice. |
