Your "joke" about Dune is lame and obtuse. I'll explain. The term "desert island" specifically refers to a deserted island with no other human inhabitants except for oneself, and not necessarily an island that has a desert climate. How many fucking islands, if any, have a desert climate anyway? So once again, I'm squabbling with someone who is quasi-literate. Yeah, it does suck to have to explain things. I have the distinct feeling that someone such as yourself will never know just how much it truly sucks. |

I'm still not happy about this.. it really will not be the same as the novel. I mean, I'll still go see it regardless, like I did with The Golden Compass but I am setting my expectations very low. Anyway, get a load of my unpretentious repertoire of choices: 1. One film that changed your life This one is a toughie, because lots of films have changed my life. Not in any real major way, but many have affected the way I view the world and whatnot. The Big Lebowski maybe.. it certainly made me feel better about everything when I first saw it. 2. One film you have watched more than once The original Star Wars trilogy. Choose one of them, I've seen them all over 20 times. 3. One film you would want on a desert island Nothing that would leave me with sand-in-the-eyes bitterness, like Castaway. Maybe even a porno? 4. One film that made you laugh I found The Darjeeling Limited to be a virtual aladdin's cave of LOL material. 5. One film that made you cry I haven't the foggiest. I think I cried over I Am Sam like 2 years ago. 6. One film you wish had been made Frasier: The Movie. That would've been marvellous. 7. One film you wish had never had been made Any of the new Star Wars trilogy, or any half-arsed adaptation of a perfectly good book. 8. The last film you saw I Am Legend. That scene where he goes 'I was saving that bacon..' was the comedy moment of the century (this far). 9. One film you have been meaning to see I'm Not There. I guess I'll go see it in 2008. I'd just like to hear the music. |

That's right, I remember you loving that now. Oh well, sorry (in more ways than one). To write that Freddy Got Fingered is "probably the best film mentioned on this thread" is completely over-the-top with preposterousness. You're in desperate need of a more articulate and better choice of words to convey your meaning. |

Christ on a bike, you really need to liven up more and not take everything said so serious. Sure not all of us can be as great and wonderful as you, but if it makes us act like you...why would we want to?

1. One film that changed your life
- 2. One film you have watched more than once Chimes at Midnight 3. One film you would want on a desert island a guide to desert island survival 4. One film that made you laugh plenty 5. One film that made you cry The newsreel footage of Greg Shackletons last report from East Timor. Knowing that he and the other 4 crewmen & journalists were already dead by the time it had been smuggled to Australia, knowing what was to happen to the East Timorese during the first months of the invasion and then during the occupation until 1999, all a bit much 6. One film you wish had been made Orson Welles 'The Cradle Will Rock'. About the production and opening night of the 1937 "labour opera" 'The Cradle Will Rock' which he himself directed. Rupert Everett was to star as his younger self (has anyone ever done that; made a film about events earlier in their life complete with an actor playing their young self?) and Amy Irving as his first wife Virginia Nicholson. But while Steven Spielberg could pay $60,000 for a replica of the Rosebud sled he wouldn't pay one red cent to produce an Orson Welles film. 7. One film you wish had never had been made The Potter films (except #3), they are just blah. Terry Gilliam should have been in charge 8. The last film you saw Atonement in a cinema on the weekend, Ran on dvd an hour ago 9. One film you have been meaning to see -

1. One film that changed your life--The Empire Strikes Back. The first film
that I watched repeatedly, and memorized the dialogue to. 2. One film you have watched more than once--Grease. In my teen years, I confess to a crush on this film. 3. One film you would want on a desert island--Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Gene Wilder's wonderful acting and endless scenes of mouth-watering confectionaries make this a no-brainer. 4. One film that made you laugh--The Simpsons Movie. Laugh like an imbecile. 5. One film that made you cry--Don't Look Back, the saddest "horror" film I've ever seen. It stayed with me for weeks. 6. One film you wish had been made--A fifth Peanuts movie. 7. One film you wish had never had been made--Pick a Michael Bay film. 8. The last film you saw--The Simpsons Movie 9. One film you have been meaning to see--um, lemme see...Withnail and I, for starters, I suppose...

1. One film that changed your life
Seventh Seal- Saw it when I was 16; perfect for existential adolecents. I had no idea movies could be like that. 2. One film you have watched more than once nearly every great movie that i've seen, i've seen again; I've probably seen Maltese Falcon the most. 3. One film you would want on a desert island Persona-I wouldn't laugh much, but I wouldn't be bored. 4. One film that made you laugh Superbad! (Showgirls was pretty funny, too) 5. One film that made you cry Au Hazzard Balthazar. Do the Right Thing always chokes me up, too. 6. One film you wish had been made Life of Dali (or has it? Someone let me know.) 7. One film you wish had never had been made Birth of a Nation. I mean, come on! 8. The last film you saw Charlie Wilson's War 9. One film you have been meaning to see von Stoheim's GREED. In theaters: JUNO. |
