On The Beach for me too. I love every song, although Ambulance Blues is my favourite. I don't find the album as depressing as Tonight's The Night. It begins with Walk On which sounds like a song about coming out of depression to me. Perhaps its more bitter than anything...
Followed by all of the obvious ones from the 70s and from the late '80s to early '90s mini revival (Freedom to Sleeps With Angels). |

On the Beach is nicely understated but has an edge.

On the Beach, though I could easily pick about seven or eight more.

Harvest, but I've only heard that and Rust Never Sleeps so far.
I'm worried that Neil Young is very very good sometimes, and very very mediocre other times. Is this true? What are his more consistant albums? I also really really really like "Shots" off Re-ac-tor, but the album sounds crazy. Does anyone have it and love it?

I usually just listen to Neil Young bootlegs nowadays, but if I had to pick my gavorite album I'd go with Harvest.
Mirror Ball should def. get some love too......it's a really rockin' album that sometimes gets overlooked since it came out in the 90's.

Like a Hurricane on LIVE RUST has the most insane chunky skronk riffs, I mean, it actually sounds like someone dropped a piano made of chainsaws from a third story balcony.

On the Beach hands down. I'd love to be a non-conformist and say something else, but that record had a huge effect on me. I like a lot of his songs, but that's the album that really connects.

I've listened to After the Gold Rush three times this week. I need a life.
I think I need to go out and get On the Beach sometime soon. |

I'm sure I am the only person in the world who would answer:
Harvest Moon I know he has "better" albums, but this one is just my favorite. |
