Your inability to respond with actual examples or data of any sort is telling of your insecurity regarding the matter. You'd rather take personal shots, and attempt to prevent me from responding. It wasn't my intent to rustle your Depends™, we're just talking about audio quality: chill. You're ignoring so many variables such as the quality of the master, the genre of music, quality of recording equipment, the levels of the mix, etc. It's not a black vs. white argument - there's enough grey area where it can be perfectly argued that the difference is negligible in a majority of cases. Some bands I insist on listening to via .flac like NIN or Mastodon, but even then - meh. In other words... (plus at your age, I doubt your hearing is 100% what it used to be, my friend) |

PS: This thread convinced me to "fuck streaming" even more.
PPS: Filmstruck just went tits up, right? Glad I have my Blurays. What stops any of these streaming places from just one day deciding to delete certain things (hello Sonic Nurse!!) or fuck off?

It's not my fault! If I don't own an album myself, and I want to listen to it, I'll stream it! Especially since it's unlikely any of my friends own the stuff I do (they're all the exact opposite to you - 'fuck buying CDs'). I will eventually buy all this shit.

Can I listen to any Merzbow album or really obscure shit on Spotify?
That's what I thought.

Google Play Music has 96 different Merzbow records, fyi. I'm hoping the sound quality isn't too distorted for you though |

sure, we’re not quite yet in paradiso-level availability of everything everywhere, but that’s where things are logically going. just like power and gas lines and running water and supermarkets. i don’t need to burn coal at home or take my bucket to the well or go to india for my own spices. and yes, they can sometimes delete things, yes there are problems that need to be worked out, yes. just like when there’s a storm the electricity goes out sometimes. but asking to make plastic circles great again is not gonna solve those problems. |

Apple Music has standardized 256 kbps. But it’s only a backup for when I don’t have my CDs or I’m not sitting with a turntable. Sounds fine. I can’t imagine caring so much about that shit that you pay more paycheck dollars for >100 kbps. Lol. And I used to record music with bands and fixate on acoustics and getting the right kick drum sound. But since I’m not a college student in Converses anymore, and have, like, bills to pay, I honestly DGAF about whether the music I’m blasting in my car is an 8.5/10 or a 10/0. *shug with middle fingers* |

Why yes, yes you can. Browse someone's account and check it out. I guarantee there's more Merzbow on Spotify than in your personal collection. |

I use spotify Premium to jam all the hard trap tunes I dig, as most rappers are not putting anything out on vinyl anymore.
Thank goodness for Travis Scott releasing Astroworld on double LP. sounds soo fucking goooooood

OK, thanks for the replies/info regarding what is available on the streaming services these days.
I am pleasantly surprised, and one day I may stop being a dinosaur, and making Plastic Circles Great Again.

Newton works really well for just about all speeds except for near c.
I got more than 96 Merzdiscs.
