The drummer on the album was definitely Sadie Mae.
Besides, given that Bob Bert hasn't exactly been Kim and Thurston's best friend since being kicked out of SY, It's hard to imagine him being that into playing drums for one of their side projects. Maybe people are remembering him playing drums in Ned Hayden and Julia Cafritz's band Action Swingers. |

For all of you who don't know this band,i recommend them for obvious reasons to this thread:
"Action Swingers" This is the sound of the early 1990’s New York scum rock underground on fire. During their tenure as New York’s kings of garage-sleaze, the Action Swingers wore the crown, and were nothing if not raw, goddamned angry, and stone-faced cool. In its less than thirty minutes, this disc, the band’s first, jumps back and forth through lo-fi exercises in stripped down garage cave-stomps, dirty punk rock guitar scraping, and got- no-time-for-you New York attitude. Ned Hayden oozes and smolders with enough abandon and creativity to rise above the sunglasses on the subway vibe given off by this and other releases. This is a high water mark of the band’s career, and this album revels in its sleazy, dirty excesses as much as its bare boned, warts and all, lo-fi strutting – it’s 1991’s Funhouse. Hayden has a knack for understanding the right moment in which to slur, the right one in which to scream, the right one in which to yowl, sneer, or sing. And he does it without the affectation that normally plagues similarly garagey/noisy/ New York outfits. The Action Swingers always showed a distinct and visceral understanding of the seedy underbelly of American music, and nowhere in their catalog will you find it more clearly, and purely articulated than here. This is the gold standard, volume one, the real deal. Reptilian is proud to re-issue this classic with a cranked up remastering job, the third installment in Reptilian’s continuing Action Swingers cd catalog. Features Pete Shore (Unsane) on bass, Julia Cafritz (Pussy Galore) on Guitar, and Bob Bert (Sonic Youth) on drums. |

I love the Whitehouse story in that - can you imagine if the Spencer had spoken to William Bennett?
"Hi William, I'm Jon Spencer, and, uh, I'm interested in putting out your new album." "Uh....well, who are you?" "I'm from Pussy Galore, a trash rock band." "Jon, my good man, put together the two words after the letter 'M', and you'll find my answer." "Wha.." "NO! GOODBYE!". (click)

demonrail666 - what with the Spencer inflicting Heavy Trash on the world, would you be interested in recording a song called "Jon Spencer Must Die"?
