He gets a bit wearing, but I'd still be abhored if anyone else did Eurovision instead of 'Uncle Terry'. Its nice to have a limited dose of cynicism thrown in there, you get the impression every other country in Europe (or as the case may be, not in Europe) takes it deadly seriously. Though I wish he'd shut the hell up about the political voting. What was it he said after the results had been announced - "this is no longer a music competion"? Shut up Terry. We all know its political, Greece always votes for Cyprus and visa versa, and its not coincidence we've been last or in the bottom three every year since the Iraq War. To be honest, its all part of the fun, and watching those political votes come in is as reassuringly predictable as the Turkish entry being an hilarious joke.

Copper - you have the task of selling me your country. I may be in Croatia this summer (Split), and if I am, I will visit Podgorica, Montenegro as well. Would you recommend taking the trip to Belgrade for a couple of days? Is it worth it? I'd love an honest opinion of a native...! Bear in mind I am attracted to urban decay and post-Soviet countries for one reason or another, but am also interested in art, culture, food and basically a good time. Also, what's the safety like in Belgrade at the moment? Bandits? Haha
Cheers in advance.

I just read this morning that the song has apparently been a hit in Spain for months now, being played on radio and TV all the time… And the performance has been watched by nearly 14 million Spaniards on Saturday: http://www.elpais.com/articulo/gente...lpepuage_1/Tes Sorry, I just want to warn you... |

no, italy boycotted this eurovision thing decades ago as far as i know, something about not allowing people to mime or something, maybe they didnt allow black box in (ride on time europop, not plane crash thingys)
terry wogan is threatening to leave the eurovision broadcast because its turning into a former eastern bloc farce... leave terry alone.... he is great, our biggest export after eamonn andrews and u2!!! (and maybe guinness and shite footballers) |
