His art books are tempting to buy, but they are always expensive as shit (obviously) when they show up on Ebay. Oh well, I have a folder with a bunch that I got off Soulseek.

He was one of the four most important male artists in my life (others are Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Dr.John). When I heard these sad news, I listened Ice Cream for crow immediately. I will listen the whole production in near future. Such a shame there will be even slight chance to see his live performence anymore though his sickness was that kind that I donīt even know when was his last performance. Hope I see Tom Waits before he dies. Have a good trip to heaven CB!

Very sad but not unexpected, we knew he'd been very ill for the past few years, I believe it was a tragic degenerative disease, he's been gone for some time. Now he's at rest. Now he's in the great rock shop in the sky, making everyone rehearse for 10 hours a day.

NO YOU'VE GOT THE WRONG IDEA. NO YOU'VE GOT THE WRONG INTENT! So good.
My top 10 Beefheart tracks would probably be... 1. sheriff of hong kong 2. steal softly thru snow 3. ghost host most holy-o 4. semi multi colored caucasian 5. odd jobs 6. suction prints 7. veteran's day poppy 8. pachuco cadaver 9. safe as milk 10. when it blows it stacks Though that barely scratches the surface as far as his great contributions to music are concerned. At least we will always have his music. January 15, 1941 – December 17, 2010 |

A few weeks shy of his 70th birthday. That's sad.

I can't even begin to describe how much I loved his music. I was lucky enough to see the Magic Band at ATP 2003 which was the first time I ever heard Beefhearts music. It was a bitter sweet moment because at the time I was a new listener and if I got to see them later I would have appreciated it so much more.
I think what I loved so much about him was that he had a larger than life aura. He would push all of the limits in music then throw out a beautiful moment that anyone could listen to. Harry Irene and Too Much Time were perfect examples. All of the stories of him are legendary. The whole child prodigy sculptor, meeting Zappa, standing up to a guy with a crossbow in his face, just so good! I'm gonna rock some Beefheart all day today. RIP DVV. |

There will never be anyone like him.
His influence will live on music will probably last forever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M5YE_a4B1U great documentary. I posted it on facebook and Steve Shelley 'liked' my post. even slutbags can appreciate his brilliance! (it's fake, but it's still hilarious.) |

He was one of my favourite artists and his music really means a lot to me.
It wasn't unexpected but nonetheless, I feel kind of sore. For those who haven't already seen it,here's Anton Corbjins "Some YoYo Stuff" http://ubu.artmob.ca/video/Corbijn-A...-Van-Vliet.avi |
