I am going to vegetate with the new Stephen King tonight (say what you will), and go cosmic bowling tomorrow. Also seemingly geeky, but for those of you who haven't done it, with a bit of alcohol, it's quite a good time. Bad for epileptics.

We have that too at Piper's Alley, but people dress funny there, and drink odd coffee ensembles. Art-house bowling just doesn't seem right.

Cosmic bowling? Is that ten-pin bowling with flashy lights and glow-in-the-dark balls and stuff?

We also have a bowling alley with a theater attached, but the actual bowling at that one sucks. Worst lanes ever. They can make a shitty bowler out of the best of them.
The one with the punk rock shows is actually pretty nice. |

do you agree with the decriminalization of the voluntary interruption of pregnancy, carried out, by option of the woman, in the first ten weeks, in a legally authorized health establishment? yes. |

I wasn't intending to derail the thread topic; I was just curious. I suspect this forum is no place for an abortion debate, though it could be interesting.

Tonight I'm working on Groundwater all night until 2 in the morning and posting here. I haven't been posting very often lately.
Tomorrow I might be going to this girl's 17th birthday party. I only met her once and she invited me . In all my spare time I'll do homework and Groundwater. VALENTINES DAY. Probably avoid my girlfriend, I really want to drop this relationship and it's rude to do it on valentines day. I hope she doesn't get me anything . She's an awesome person, just lives 2 hours away from me and is a little too clingy. So Valentines day I'm probably going downtown to shop around for clothing since I have job interviews coming up. Then I'm seeing my friend's band open for Think About Life. Tickets sold out in 2 days. Going to be intense.

I'm playing a live set in here:
It's surprisingly warm inside this thing, considering it's winter and this is on a frozen lake. Minnesota artists do a yearly "art shanty" project, and more than one of them have music. This one is called the "Vista Shanty," and is made by some friends of mine. My bandmates also participate and make a "bigloo" that is wired for sound and recording, but I haven't made plans to play in there this year. Tried that last year. They even had an underwater mic set up beneath the ice to capture the sounds of people walking on top of it last year. A ton of people come out for this too; should be fun. http://www.artshantyprojects.org/ |

That's such a neat idea! How does it sound off the speakers? It's similar to an event we have here in ottawa, but even cooler. In ottawa we have the Rideau canal open to walk on, and every year we have a festival with live bands that play on it, and we have beavertails and contests and junk on it. Most of us usually just gets trashed. And the live music is "popular canadian artists" such as sam roberts, unfortunately.

Much how sonicl described it. It's later at night, with strobe lights and other "groovy" visuals, and typically there are quirky rules for how you must bowl. i.e. you have to bowl backwards, between your legs, across lanes, etc. If you consume enough alcohol (oddly enough, I get much better at bowling the more I drink), it's quite fun. It's actually for my sister's birthday, which is even better, as it's entirely paid for. Bless open bars. |

Another derailment: I went to a wedding over in your hood once (meaning the UK), and was SHOCKED to learn that open bars are not customary. Is this true? What other reason is there to get married?

i suppose it would depend on the wealth of the father of the bride as to whether there's an open bar or not
