my own private idaho was good though a bit pretentious-- to die for was just fucking awesome (except for the very last scene where the author delivers his "message" via a character who talks to the screen). drugstore cowboy was good too, really good. finding forrester was sweet but such a cliche. good will hunting = shoot me now. even cowgirls get the blues = utter crap. psycho... who the fuck dares remake psycho? i think he peaked in 1995 with to die for. |

"DO YOU WANT TOTAL WAR?? YES YOU WANT TOTAL WAR!!"
No, Boyd, what I really want is a pastrami on rye, extra mustard, and don't be stingy with the pickles. It's what Josef Goebbels would have wanted after all.

This thread reminded me of a brilliant track by Gus Van Sant and William Burroughs called ''Hipster Be-Bop Junkie'', which is only a cool thing. FANXXXX!!

hell no. she's absolutely AMAZING in it-- she carries a lot of the movie actually. there's even an appearance by david cronenberg. that movie is fucking great-- her character, a complete fucking monster. one of the best female monsters ever since "all about eve". |

I likes 'im. I wouldn't say he was the best thing ever, but his 'noise' music never seems like noise and is rarely angry. His personal opinions on things never come across as fascist so much as one particular avenue you could follow absolute libertarianism to. He flirts with fascism but you'll never hear him actually single out a single group (i.e., he seems to love/hate all abstract people equally).
Social Darwinism is the natural conclusion of dyed-in-the-wool Greens: discuss.

Maybe it's me, but what has Boyd Rice got to do with Gus Van Sant that you could make a connection? Isn't that a bit like saying you like Stereolab, but prefer pepsi? |

I still want someone to explain to me the connection between Boyd Rice and Gus Van Sant. I'm not being sarcastic, just genuinely confused.

demon - there is no connection. I think that screamingskull must've been thinking of someone else. At least that's what I believe. What else could connect a prankster loving pseudo-fascist with, er, GVS? Nowt, that's what. Anyway, the big question is: do you want Bowdy-boy to serve you totalitarian politics, or a damn fine pastrami sandwich at Disneyworld?

I have no idea. I'm just glad this thread reminded me of Burroughs/Van Sant's ''The Elvis Of Letters'' record 'cause it's ace and I listened to it again. Actually, thinking about it, I'm sure you could link Boyd Rice to William Burroughs and then to Gus Van Sant. |
