The election ends up tied in the electoral college vote, and is sent to the overwhelmingly Democratic new congress in January to decide.

In the interim, Obama is found to have some involvement in a drug scandal, and McCain takes deathly ill.

Desperate for an alternative, Congress selects Hilary as the next president.
