Sepultura (Arise and Roots especially)
Slayer (Reign in blood / Seasons in the abyss), not sure I would listen to a complete album anymore though (a bit too agressive for me now)

black sabbath started in 68-69. They creates metal as we know it.

motorhead began as an offshoot of hawkwind, with lemmy kicking out the jams, in 1975. Motorhead is straight up blues rock, hard and fast blues rock, which is a part of metal for sure.

people have always called motorhead metal, but I go with lemmy on this one, and he says that Motorhead have always been rock n roll, straight up, like AC DC.
