I don't think I've seen any previews that weren't the girl shooting something with her leg.
Beyond that, I have no idea what the movie is about. |

I think it looks completely terrible, and my favorite genre of film is old campy horror b-movies.
That being said, I bet rodriguez's segment will be 100000000 times better than tarantino's. |

Not sure how I feel about this. I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but Tarantino disappointed me horribly with both Kill Bills. Positively atrocious.

I didn't dig the Kill Bill movies like I dug the older ones, but I'll check this out anyway. Most likely when it comes to the second-run cheap theater by my house. In three weeks.

Death Proof was fantastic
and Planet of terror was pretty good. The trailer for Thanksgiiving was hilarious. I was surprised though the theatre was not even half full |

I saw the film tonight too and yeah, the theatre was not filled at all, granted it was an afternoon showing, night performances are probobly going to do much better. "Death Proof" was really good, I wasn't bored at all, many of these reveiwers saying its slow and too much dialouge is crap. "Planet Terror" was actually pretty good, all the effects are made to look two generations old, so it looks like a sci-fi movie from the mid 80's like those ones that came out that just jumped on the success of "Alien", and "Aliens" but with half the budget. "Planet Terror" doesn't take itself seriously at all, its more like a play on those 80's action movies, "Death Proof" is more straight-forward. And just a lot of fun.

I saw it tonight too and I liked Planet Terror better. I guess I agree with the reviewers mentioned above because I found the dialogue to be a little much. But that's my usual reaction to Tarantino's films. One of the best times I've had at the theater in a while, though.

I guess i probably liked death proof better because of the wordy dialogue. I'm a sucker for movies with alot of dialogue that can seem to be going nowhere.
I agree with life distortion about planet terror, it was good but since it did not take it self seriously it wasn't quite as good as deathproof |

I like Planet Terror way more than Death Proof, the first half of Death Proof was cool, but once Rosario Dawson, and that girl who was that terrible black stero type came in it sucked, that girl was so fucking annoying. QT blew it. Planet Terror owned my face though...

Damn, I wanted to see this today. I don't think I'll be able to because my parents are working and my grandma is coming over to dye easter eggs...

Looks like "Grindhouse" is being split into 2 separate films, as it's done pretty poorly in the States so far.
As for the film(s) itself - I dunno, I'm getting really tired of Tarantino's shtick - "hey, let's reference more 60's/70's culture". I'm convinced more and more than "Reservoir Dogs" was a one-off, and that everything since has been diminishing returns.

I think you guys may be constipated.
--- Tarantino is lengthening his cut of Death Proof and taking the film to Cannes. He remarked recently that it is funny how Grindhouse is as low as I can go, and it's ironic that this is the one people like...(as opposed to Jackie Brown, I would imagine is his implication) His next project (for 2008) will be a WWII film, working title Inglorious Bastards) that already sounds worth noting. He explains that the first movie he ever owned on VHS is The Great Escape and that the new work will take some inspiration from that great film. Set in World War 2, Tarantino's story revolves around group of soldiers on their way to be executed, only they get the chance for a reprieval. He describes them as "Not your normal hero types that are thrown into a big deal in World War II." |

I wonder if Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards" is going to be a remake of this:

seems entirely probable
Tagline for Quel Maledetto Treno Blindato (1977): Whatever the Dirty Dozen did they do it dirtier! Tarantino has also been referencing The Dirty Dozen a bunch in conjunction with announcments about Inglorious Bastards. Makes total sense. Good scoop, MellySingsDoom. |

Some of you guys seemed to take these movies far too seriosuly. I loved them both. Death Proof less so because the dialogue was too wordy to follow the hilariously overdone Planet Terror and the ads during the intermission.
But they were just great. Planet Terror's unrealistic unnecessary gore was just hilarious. The missing reel jokes were great. Death Proof's action was pretty fun, but Death Proof would have really sucked had it not been for the end. |
