I've just received the gift of the seven-CD edition of Fun House, the complete sessions, and it's AWESOME.
Pure fire.

By the way, I agree that Raw Power has a very much more domesticated feel than Fun House. It was produced by John Cale, that may be the reason.
But then again, that's the feeling I had a long time about Daydream Nation too.

There's songs on it I like more than others (my favourites are tracks 2 to 5, with a preference for Dirt and 1970) but still I think the record is pure genious.

To me Raw Power is the greatest! And I even love that Bowie-production! In Raw Power every song is great, Fun House the tittle song is a little bit too long and also in the first album is We Will Fall, altough I like those songs. I have double-vinyl-version from Fun house, the outtakes in that is also quite good and of course "Lost in the Future" is just great (Itīs amazing how they didnīt put it into original version). I have also rariety-collection "Gimme Some Skin" which is also quite enjoyable although the sound quality specially b-side is quite bad. I saw them live when Ron was still alive and they were just great!

I hate this album cause I hate it. I find it boring and overrated. Of course I've never met anyone who's said a bad word against it apart from my conversations with Adam Cooley but he can't back me up anymore. ;[

The first album is more deranged and Funhouse is more nihilistic. These are the two important aspects we should be talking about when we discuss Stooges. Both deserve the level of reverence they have.
and Raw Power has never done it for me either.

I think that deep down you hate the people talking about this album on this thread more than the album itself. No worries, I do too. Luckily I live a fairly sheltered life where people don't make inane comparisons about different mixes or takes on certain songs which I happen to love anyway, regardless of the their recording. I don't think it's one of those records that needs much defending or converting new people to. What it needs, like so many other records deemed as ''classics'', is simply getting people to shut up about them so much and stop thinking they can bring new or interesting takes on them. |

Don't listen to this record while watching ''Almost Famous''. Everyone is a twat on that film. I still enjoy watching it because at least it brings up some characters who seem to enjoy the music anyway, but seem incapable of turning putting a record on into an overwrought lifestyle. Irritating.

The one and only reason why I am here is that I want to discuss with people about Sy and other interesting music. When I have started threads about bands that are not well-known, there has been quite a little replies. The most interesting discussions have been with the well-known bands and albums. I know thereīs people who think itīs boring to be enthusiastic about some albums 10 000 times, but I think it is their problem. There are bands and albums I can be enthusiastic all the time. Stooges and Fun House are one of those.

Alright cool.
Why is it so sacrilegious to dislike this album here anyway? Like, people assume others have a motive for disliking it when in reality it just doesn't interest me. Like when I hear Ron Asheton play all I hear is dull powerchords and generic pentatonic blues solos. Maybe others don't hear that but I do. Maybe I just don't 'get' it but again, who knows. |

The greatness of this album is nothing to do with technical skills. Itīs the great feelings it offers. To me always the most important thing in the music is the feelings I get it, itīs quite same to me how technically skilled the playres are. I also donīt want to listen music in intelligent way.
