It's a tough one to get through and not nearly as enjoyable as the shorter Metamorphosis which grips you right away. The Story of K. in The Castle is meant to be impossibly labrinthe to mirror his bewilderment. Even though one figures what might happen at the end, it still works and the whole thing becomes an epitaph to the modern life.
I do enjoy Dostoevsky's The Double short story more though. |
