The excellent Ubu Web is screening Derek Bailey's On The Edge, first shown on Channel 4. Well worth a couple of hours of your time.

http://www.ubu.com/film/bailey.html

The series arose from his seminal book on improvisation.

I saw him perform solo once many years ago, me and about 5 other people!
He was a genius.

It's also on youtube if anyone wants to see it.

I am very interested in, um, "solo guitar music".. haha.. is that the right word? I really like John Fahey, Sir Richard Bishop, Seiichi Yamamoto's solo guitar stuff, etc. Any reccomendations?

Taku Sugimoto

Japanense improv solo guitarist. Very minimalist approach to playing.

robbie basho and james blackshaw are way too busy to be considered in the same league as derek bailey...but i see adam also grouped sir richard bishop with bailey and fahey so...jack rose dude!!!!

loren connors is more minimal, more in the alley of bailey.

Excellent suggestions. I also discovered Sandy Bull, who is excellent.

I've only heard around 10 Fahey albums and they're all AMAZING. Fuuuuuuuuuck...........

has anyone heard guitar, drums 'n' bass?!

It's bailey playing guitar over a fairly straightforward drum n bass record. it's INSANE! hilarious and mindboggling.
