Yeah, they have some very `eavy stuff! But what I like the most in Fishbone is their large scale of styles: from heavy funk to light ska. And they have also some very beatiful songs like Black Flowers in "Give Monkey...". And their flirting with different styles is so natural, there are no big contrasts as for example Bad Brains have (hardcore punk/reggae, though I like Bad Brains also). And I think they are the most obscene for the "funk-metal" bands! |

It's a Japanese band called Coil, nothing to do with the UK band. |

As stu666 has mentioned, this actually has nothing to do with COIL. Only thing in common between this japanese combo and Jhonn Balance and company's band is the sharing of the same name. Sound-wise, they aren't in any way similar, either. I tried to point that out in my former post. By listing the line-up that performed that show, i thought i'd make it clear this was a different entity. My apologies, it seems i'm not very articulate sometimes. I think you might have been expecting something different from this recording. I'm glad you enjoyed what you heard, though. So yeah, this ain't listed at COIL's discogs database, because it is a different band; and even if it were actually the COIL we are familiar with, i think it wouldn't be at discogs either, considering that it's not an officially released album, or even a bootleg that has circulated as a silver CD. This is actually a recording of a live performance taped by a member of the audience most likely with a DAT recorder, and i bet it came originally from dimeadozen, or a similar tracker. I wish i could have more info, but i've already posted all i've got.

This is a fine DAT audience recording, never released before. Distributed as free MP3 download by Naughty Dog label (at least it’s said so on the PDF booklet)." |

I checked discogs' listing on the Naughty Dog Label and found a bit more information about this Keiji Haino & Coil recording. Apparently, it was taped with a Sony D-100 recorder with Core Sound Binaural mics.
http://www.discogs.com/Keiji-Haino-C...elease/2493348 Thanks again, stu! |

Yeah, there's an abundance of instrumental work by him. He seems to have love and deep interest in a huge variety of instruments and that gets reflected in his work. However, there are still recordings that actually contain actual songs, though his vocals are very versatile as well. Some records where you can hear Keiji Haino singing that immediately spring to mind:
This is a broad subject and i'm pretty sure there are many people on this board with better and bigger Haino collections than mine, but i still hope i'm able to lend you a hand. Maybe someone else would like to jump to this thread, and recommend even more stuff, that would be absolutely great.
