Not if you live in air conditioning.
Besides, the fall is coming. Mark my words!

I almost always buy off season. You get the best deals that way. Besides, I have umpteen polos and tees. I needed trousers and sweaters.
Hey, at least I'm not buying any more jeans.

That's cool. But for myself, maybe because of my age, I'm afraid I can't find enough that works in the vintage places. By necessity I've had to resort to BR, J. Crew, and the Gap, and yes, even, in my most desperate moments, Eddie Bauer.
These sweaters, though--they're more like what I'd call a summer sweater. Very lightweight, almost like tee shirt weight. Like you could wear these on the beach after the sun sets and the cool breezes come in. Like a long-sleeved top you might wear with some summer shorts. Not a fall or winter heavy sweater at all.

I think as the economy worsens people must be hanging on to their old clothes more. Pickings sure have been slim at the vintage stores I go to, anyway.
Furniture is boring.

i understand what you mean about the vintage thing, a lot of things that i wear would look absolutely ridiculous on most people
i like sweaters like this (i'm very big on sweaters, by the way) just ones that are a bit odd or off in some way |

So my BR clothes come with this little hard tag on the inside, near the waistline, that says REMOVE BEFORE WEARING.
I've worn them already before removing this. UH OH? WTF?

I've run an analysis of this and my clothes fetishes include:
Shoes Jackets Sweaters Polos Tees I have to be careful because I can end up buying endless number of the same item, in different variations. I currently have two navy lightweight cardigans, for example--wtf!? but yeah, vintage is a tricky thing. It has to work with the whole package. At my age, and given the kind of "casual but borderline professional" image I have to present, I'm safer with BR and J. Crew mall shopping.

So what is it even there for? To preserve the fabric life while the clothes are on the store shelves? I haven't seen this before.

Shoes.
God, I could be a girl about shoes. I think the only thing that saves me is my wife is obsessed with shoes, so that tempers my shoe fetish a little. I mean, we can only afford so many shoes between the two of us.

I'm currently obsessed with finding a particular kind of Jack Purcell shoe.

I hear ya.
I have a thing for Clarks Desert Boots. It's too hot most of the year here for them, but I have two pair now. I haven't worn my brown leather Doc Martens boots since 1994 but I can't bear to take them out of my closet.

There was so much weird shit in the 70s. Seriously, really weird.
It was confusing, even, I'd say. It got so I decided to go sort of preppy because I could never tell if anything "trendy" really looked any good. So in college in the 70s I was dressing in preppy Izod sweaters, those awful white tennis sweaters with the blue and red collar bands, and Penguin polos and button down collars. So I might have seen that but I don't really remember. I bought this bad polo once in 1976 that had red and white stripes running vertical. In a bad moment I thought it looked incredibly edgy and even wore it on a date. God, I can't believe it. It was awful.
