Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash - Watch the Video for Previously Unreleased "Wanted Man (Take 1)"

Quote:
Bob Dylan is releasing the latest album in his Bootleg Series, entitled Travelin' Thru, 1967 - 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15, on November 1 via Columbia/Legacy. It's credited to "Bob Dylan (featuring Johnny Cash)" as it centers on previously unreleased recordings featuring the late legendary country musician. Now one of those tracks, "Wanted Man (Take 1)," has been shared via a video for the track. Watch it below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=iiRMfb3Z9hg

"Wanted Man" is taken from an unreleased session recorded in 1969, with Carl Perkins on guitar. Dylan wrote the song, but Cash performed it on his 1969 live album At San Quentin, which was recorded on February 24, 1969, just six days after the February 18 session that produced the version of "Wanted Man" released today. Cash later did a studio version of the song. This recording starts with some chatter from Cash's wife June Carter Cash.

From Domino Records:

Quote:
The story continues: a second serving of delights from the Go-Betweens catalogue

We are honoured to announce the upcoming release of the second installment of the anthology series documenting The Go-Betweens, one of the most beloved and influential Australian groups of all-time. G Stands For Go-Betweens Volume 2 covers the latter half of the Eighties in an ambitious box containing the following...
  • 5 x LPs - Three studio albums from the group's august period on Beggars Banquet plus a previously unreleased double live album recorded in London May 10th, 1987.
  • 5 x CDs - Rare, hard-to-find and unreleased demos, recordings, radio sessions including a collection of 28 songs intended for what was supposed to be the follow-up to 16 Lovers Lane.
  • 112 page book - A trove of archival photos and extensive historical liner notes from founding member Robert Forster - plus additional pieces from guest essayists, fans & contemporaries.
  • The Liberty Belle And The Black Diamond Express songbook. Prepared at the time of release by their publisher, this is the first ever printing, containing hand-transcribed sheet music of all ten songs from the aforementioned album.
It would be hard to overstate the shadows cast across the musical landscape of the last three decades by the Go-Betweens' self-ascribed "striped sunlight sound". Showcasing the alchemic songwriting partnership of Grant McLennan and Robert Forster, this anthology is sure to provide inspiration to a new generation of musicians while providing a very special personal experience for the existing fans.

This is a deluxe limited package and we will only be pressing this collection once. The only way to guarantee your own copy is to order from us at Domino Mart. The stock is estimated to be delivered to customers at the beginning of December, in time for the holidays.

WATCH: "Streets Of Your Town"

Please note that the initial copies including a book from Grant McLennan's personal literary collection have now sold out.

Unfortunately, we are unable to sell this product directly to Australia and New Zealand. However, customers from either territory can purchase this box set here:

Legends of the pop underground Beat Happening unveil their definitive document

Remastered 7 x LP box set We Are Beat Happening now up for pre-order, including a 36 page book of liner notes

November 29th sees the release of We Are Beat Happening, a box set of the band's entire recorded output. The albums have been newly remastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios and this will be the first time the entire catalogue has been in print in over a decade.

The set consists of six albums over seven heavyweight LPs, with a brand new 36 page booklet written by Lois Maffeo featuring rare & unseen pictures and paintings from the band, housed in a hard-outer box. Revisit Beat Happening, Jamboree, Black Candy, Dreamy, You Turn Me On and Music To Climb The Apple Tree By, all in one lovingly crafted package.

Beat Happening was formed in Olympia, Washington at the dawn of the 1980s by Calvin Johnson, Heather Lewis and Bret Lunsford. Whilst they may have played their last show in 1992 and made their final recording in 2000, it's tricky to define their cessation. Along with the music they made and the shows that they played, the band created a connectivity that is still completely present.

Out now: Fenn O'Berg, In Hell

Quote:
Superb collection of Fenn O'Berg jams from their 2010 Japan tour, in which they forged further west for some wild sets in Beppu and Omuta. While maintaining the sophistication of the In Stereo sessions and tour, these recordings hark back to some classic 20th Century Fenn O'Berg fare, complete with the odd cheeky samples.
Performed by Christian Fennesz, Jim O'Rourke and Peter Rehberg at the following locations:

20 Nov 2010, Oita, Oitaweb.tv Beppu Tower Hall
19 Nov 2010, Hiroshima, Club Quatro
21 Nov 2010, Fukuoka, Omuta Fuji
24 Nov 2010, Kyoto, Club Metro
22 Nov 2010, Nagoya, Club Quatro

Assembled by Jim O'Rourke at Steamroom Tokyo, 2011
Cut at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, 2012

‘Ottla’ is the latest addition to our roster, their debut album is due this fall on Unday records (in collab with WERF Records), more on that soon.

Following Dans Dans and Flying Horseman (and the odd solo-venture; see Strand and Transit), Ottla is the latest outlet for the boundless energies of Bert Dockx. He gathered an outstanding sextet with an unexpected – double drummer – line up featuring:

Bert Dockx (guitar)
Frans Van Isacker (alto sax)
Thomas Jillings (tenor sax)
Nicolas Rombouts (bass)
Louis Evrard (drums, percussion)
Yannick Dupont (drums, percussion, electronics)

Ottla's self titled debut album is due fall 2019.

This album is out now, since last week. And it's very good, well to be honest I haven't gone past the first track yet. But that one is so good I just had to hear it twice!

Catch it on this youtube playlist or on bandcamp

Quote:
Ottla is the new band of the sedulous singer, songwriter and guitarist Bert Dockx (Flying Horseman, Dans Dans, Strand). What started as a modest thought, an ambiguous plan to start playing jazz again, spiralled into an idiosyncratic project with its very own identity. It became Ottla, Franz Kafka’s beloved sister’s surname, after whom the young Dockx once christened a bicycle, and later his first band.

Now, once again, Ottla is a band. And much more than a nod to Dockx’s past forays in the world of improv, it’s a new and different beast; a unique hybrid of musical moods and styles. Certainly not a casual exercise, but a very downright, vital sextet which was shaped and moulded under the guise of its instigator, after a yearlong of blowing and kicking up dust in the rehearsal room.

The outcome of said year, the first album of Ottla, sounds playful, mysterious, sometimes fragile, occasionally brute, vexed, but always exciting and intriguing. Bert dialled up producer and long-time collaborator Koen Gisen to capture the chemistry and energy of Ottla in a potent, analogue production. Eight songs made it onto the self-titled debut, six original compositions and two covers - one from Sun Ra, one from Thelonious Monk.
The raw, blues-infected guitar, the deliberate wandering through nocturnal detours, a soft spot for dissonant electronics… they’re all cornerstones of Bert Dockx musical cosmos. But still Ottla gracefully pedals her own distinctive way, with clashing or harmonious brass, two contending drummers, and brazenly roaring double bass.

Jazz? Rock? Psychedelia? Something in between or very much outside of it? It wholly depends on the listener. Or like Monk once said: ‘You're supposed to know it when you hear it’.

Out November 15: Ingrid Laubrock + Aki Takase - Kasumi

Quote:
Jazz as the art of dialogue: two of the great musicians of today's jazz from different continents and generations make music sparkle.

Born in Osaka in 1948, Aki Takase moved to Berlin where her musical partners included Han Bennink, Evan Parker, Rudi Mahall, David Murray, Louis Sclavis and Fred Frith as well as her husband and pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach.

Ingrid Laubrock, born in 1970 in Stadlohn in North Rhine-Westphalia, moved to London at the age of 19 where she studied with the saxophonists Jean Toussaint and Dave Liebman. She has lived in Brooklyn since 2008. In her publications she shows a wide musical spectrum ranging from the quintet AntiHouse to the orchestral recordings of "Contemporary Chaos Practices" from 2018.

"Ingrid is one of my favorite saxophonists," says Aki Takase. "She is a talented player with a lot of technique, very creative, smart and above all I love her dedicated approach to making music". And Ingrid Laubrock says about Aki Takase: "It feels great to play with Aki. She's so unique and the feeling of serious playfulness and communication I'm looking for musically is there immediately".

The album Kasumi presents wonderful dialogues, which radiate joy, wit and warmth or hold the breath in silent intensity, so as not to break the spell.
