Lost is great, but it never really recaptured the darkness and intensity of seasons 1,2, and 3. The last few seasons are just philosophical sci-fi, and they tend to go overboard. Season 2 is the real kicker, and the season 1 finale still leaves me trembling every time I watch it. The last 3 seasons are great, and granted I've only watched them once each, while I've seen the first 3 over and over, but something seemed to be missing after S3. I was ok with the finale, though it totally overstepped the supernatural boundary lines. Open ended, open-to-interpretation, heaven sequence type stuff. It was exciting and all, and I cried my eyes out at the end (the last moment is perfect) but I preferred the first few seasons, when i was scared shitless of the Others and had no idea who or what they were. |

Speaking of both, I think some of the Lost writers or storyboarders must have worked on Breaking Bad. The shows have a really similar feel, and both rely overtly on symbolism and existentialism. The Fly episode of Breaking Bad really reminded me of something from Lost, as do the flashback sequences.

My favorite thing about season 4 of Lost really is how it makes me think of season 1 in a different light. Almost every argument (except maybe water) they had amongst eachother about how to survive was actually extremely pointless. The first 3 season finales are flawless that much is obvious. 4's was underwhelming, but 5's might be my favorite actually.
But yeah, I think that might be what hurt the show if anything. It wasn't really a mystery show anymore after season 3, but it wasn't really in answer mode either. Still tons of fun.

I think about X-Files more than anything when it comes to Breaking Bad since Vince Gilligan was pretty invested in both shows.

it's rare for me to watch something that genuinely makes me laugh out loud numerous times. This show does it for me... and season 3 starts febuary 2nd! |

Breaking Bad left me a little cold. It didn't quite wrap up and it wasn't quite a cliffhanger. It was kinda disappointing.
Now I'm watching Lost again. The person I'm watching it with is highly critical, so he's pointing out a lot of flaws that I haven't seen before, but even so it's great! I really wish Lost had been released five years later, when sex, drugs, and swearing were allowed on TV. It could stand to be a little more pg-13. Seems tame after Breaking Bad. |

why did I never see that post before?... paul rudd! personally, I was a bit disappointed in the show after season one... despite the majority thinking the complete opposite. I'll try rewatching most of those episodes when I can.
Genocyber OST a friend kept recommending this to me since he's obsessed with anything anime related... it's decent. Xavier Renegade Angel brilliant! |

Don't have TV. No TV set. No cable. No satellite.
All we have is laptops and Netflix.

Ha ha. I used to watch it religiously up until about 2 years ago. Then I discovered my ex-mother in law also watched it religiously, and I swore off it after that. I can gather all the news I need on the weather report... on the Weather Channel Web site.

I've seen that a few times. The last episode I saw was when Karl is forced to change into pajamas and go inside this little tent where a group of strangers are hugging and cuddling with each other. It's not my favorite show..
I've mainly been watching through the wormhole lately when I turn my tv on. |

I bought season one of Game of Thrones on Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed watching every episode. The thing that amused me the most about it was some of the casting choices. Did you have to be an English, public schoolboy/schoolgirl toff to be eligible for some of the roles?

watched Black Mirror.
Ep1: intriguing idea, bit over the top execution, not that well acted/directed imo. Ep2: nothing too special, some good ideas, not well developed characters, decent "turn of the events" towards the end. Ep3: Fucking amazing. GREAT photography, GREAT acting, nice direction. Much better than the two first episodes combined. Red Riding Trilogy: Overall interesting and well put together, some "confused" bits and some scenes I never liked in movies overall (how many times irl complete strangers end up fucking in a bed after a discussion about dead people?). Liked the second episode the most because Paddy is amazing. The plot gets kinda knotted up and the 3 episodes need to be watched quite close one to the other to keep track of the things happening. Conveys the "right" feelings of bleak hopelessness (?) and filth and dirt etc. In a way.
