Really? REALLY?
I mean its got its moments but Layne's vocals are off on most of his songs, and some of the songs are just kind of over long and boring. I mean its not bad, but.. their catalogue includes Dirt, Jar of Flies, S/T... Haha to each their own I suppose. I just found it somewhat mediocore, especially when compared to Nirvana's. But yeah I'd say most of the blame goes to Layne.. he kind of dropped the ball.

Yeah, that guapo album is pretty cool. First heard of them through an excellent split with cerberus shoal.
stuff I've been "peepin": "epitaph" by necrophagist, this is easily, in my mind, the best death metal band of all time. No death metal band has been more technical, and even a few people who I know who claim to hate death metal love this record. The guy who runs this band has been compared to Mozart and Bach and it's really not too far off. Laugh if you want, but listen to the record and you'll be surprised.... "good morning good night" by Sachiko M, Toshimaru Nakamura, Otomo Yoshihide... aka "about 2 hours of high pitched ringing, some static, and that's about it." Amazing stuff. longmont potion castle. I've been listening to these nonstop with all my friends, my girlfriend, and even my mom and grandpa! If you haven't bothered going over to the thread I posted and downloading his entire discography in about 5 seconds, then you don't love absurdist phone call humor! After long debate, my favorite track is on volume 5, he calls about 100 people with "WHO DID YOU VOTE FOR?" Obvious responses of the "none of your damn business!" variety ensue but then one in particular gets a bit dark and ridiculous. Truely some of the most fascinating, brilliant, most fucked-up stuff ever released. I'd rather listen to this than almost any band currently making music. Luckily, there are THRASH METAL songs on every album played by Longmont himself! pan sonic - kesto Brilliant. Also, been listening to lots of Eight Frozen Modules, by far and away the best "IDM" stuff I've ever heard. So complex that it hurts. |
