No, there are more homicides in countries in which guns are sold legally.
The US is the champion of homicides with guns, only behind Colombia.

I don't know, what about Africa, Mexico, and all those other poor countries where guns are sold illegally?

still less in numbers. besides, all those guns used in mexico and colombia are manufactured in the us, so the damage is international. Africa is not a country tho, and I don't think mexico is considered a poor nation anymore - just to be anal.

I know, but you also have to consider that America was founded on fear of the government. And that is still instill on Americans even today.

yeah, but not having a gun around means in a lot of cases death will be avoided. and the logic that "there will always be guns" is exactly the reason there could be - but since it is only this that stands in the way of a gun free world i think we've got a good chance. |

I really wish there would be a gun free world, but I just have given up on that.

and if you accept that that's why there won't be. i'm not advocating that you beat yourself up with hope that's going to get crushed, i think all you need is to be able to not loose sight of the possiblity and realise that this is what we should all want. besides, eventually there won't be any guns left no matter what, we might not be around either then but still. warfare will most likely evolve beyond the use of guns by some point. it might get worse in many ways - but i'm sure a possible upside to these kind of technological advancements might be weapons that can incapacitate without causing any damage or pain. |

wow go away for a few days and the sparks they do fly...I see no reason for guns or gun ownership. You want to hunt get a bow and arrow make it a real sport give the animal a chance. If there were no guns for criminals why would cops need them? Look at those death statistics Knox posted. Imagine that gone. As long as the NRA lobby exists there will be guns.
Chaney shoots a guy and they claim hunting accident haha My money is on Chaney shot a little high and missed. He's was above the law and knew he could get away with. Hey ST America was not built on fear of the government it was suppose to be for the "people by the people". Unfortunately the people representing the people got big heads and greedy pockets, and could be bought by those people who had cash and lots of it.....

I personally know women who keep guns in their purses/cars, and I know one woman who is barely 5 feet tall and she warded off a man trying to break her car window while she was sitting in the driver seat. he punched it and cracked it, and was about to rear back for another, when she pulled out her pistol. needless to say, that bitch ran.
And I served on a Grand jury for a summer. Most guns at crime scenes, and I mean the vast majority, were obtained illegally. They scratch off the serial numbers.

All of these guns were legally purchased at some point. Everyone knows of ONE in which that someone sucessfully managed to "defend" themselves, but they all seem to forget in the great majority of the cases increases the chances of a criminal attempt ending in tragedy, gun ownership increases the chances of domestic homicide, impulsive homicide and suicide.

The mindset in the UK has always been if you're soft over gun ownership, like in the US, it's a recipe for disaster, which has been proven in the US. That's why gun laws in the UK is the strictest in the world, and street police are unarmed. You only have to watch Bowling for Columbine to know that.

Considering the estimates that 1 in between 5 women is a victim of rape, you could say they usually still rather live, which they should, despite anything.
wait, hold on. sorry you said black dude.
