Goddammit.

I mean, that sounds cool and all, and FX is as good a channel as any (American! Taboo! Legion!) but I was REEEEEEALY looking forward to “We’re Wolves.”

The name alone should justify the making of the film. That’s a goddamn NAME, dammit.

FUCK I LOVE WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS!!!!

yeah, I got ahold of Waititi's other movie, he plays a guy just out of prison reconnecting with family, an OK drama, but nothing special. He really needs to get out of comics and back into humor!!

going to rewatch WWDITS tonite!

Rivette - Duelle. Fun times!!

I'm going to do his Noroit next. Then his Merry Go Round.

Any Rivette fans here?

She’s lying and trying to look cool. Nobody says WWDITS is not funny. That’s a lie. Or maybe she’s a vampire and didn’t want her clan’s secrets exposed.

Both more likely than someone of sound mind not loving WWDITS

Both Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 were good films, but they didn't wow me the way most Tarantino films did. Still quality 'tino though.

Cruel Intentions.

If I ever became a manipulative dick, it'd have started with this movie back in high school. Never came to pass.

Oh god, I love those movies. No, they’re not like Tarantino at his weird, trippy, solid gold dialogue, Scorsese-meets-Glenn-Gary-Glenn-Ross best (well, I guess the second film gets fairly close to that level at points), but they’re just so freaking good. They’re good even when they are deliberately bad (see the opening scene of Vol. 2), and the rest of the time, they’re either just fun as all fuck, or they skirt genuine thriller/realistic horror territory (the Michael Madden scenes... *mwah!*)

I think the one-two punch of those movies actually makes for my favorite Tarantino flick, even though I know, definitively, that it’s not the *best.*

Also, y’knkw, Tarantino loves genre dabbling. He can’t resist it. War? Check. Western? Check, check, check. Gangster? Check. SF/Horror? Check. Noir? Check. So I tend to think of Kill Bill as Tarantino’s take on the “superhero” genre. It’s really an origin, hero’s journey thing when you think about it. So... yeah. Sorry, had a point but lost it

The movie is gorgeous, and I really enjoyed it. I like how each of the three iconic roles that Harrison Ford returned to, he's pretty much playing the same absentee father. Any other director would have turned the Blade Runner sequel into a big action shoot em up film and probably just be a copy of the first one.

Whoah! Where’s this coming from? I thought we had a shared love for Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown at the very least.

I’m SURE several of us have circle-jerked about Tarantino in this thread many times, and I’m pretty sure you’ve been a part of it.

That said... I kind of agree with some of what you’re saying. He can gangster, but he can’t quite GoodFellas. He can crime/noir, but he can’t quite Fargo. He can western, but he can’t No Country for Old Men or There Will be Blood.

Everything he does is definitely coated in a Tarantino syrup that might prevent it from being what it could be.

I think Hateful Eight was a smart use of country and horror tropes, though. Like Liberty Valancr meets The Thing or something. But I guess it just made me think about The Thing, more than actually being a great, unforgettable film, like The Thing.

Pulp Fiction is a classic, near perfect movie though. He’s never made a bad one. Actually I still haven’t seen the Grindhouse one he did, so maybe that’s shit.
