Also, from last year, Chris Martinez's OST for Neon Demon had some great stuff on it (as do all Chris Martinez OSTs).

Chris Martinez did Neon Demon? Awesome! I still haven’t seen that. I’m a little scared to. But now I’m definitely going to listen to the soundtrack. Thanks! P.s. the Four Tet was actually one of the least appealing on the list to me. Nothing new or particularly interesting going on on that record, which is disappointing. |

Large parts of New Energy belong in that special layer of hell reserved for music you could hear in Audi ads or wellbeing clinics. It's a problem I have with a lot of electronica. Something about all those clean lines and smooth surfaces. |

YES! But Kieran Hebden is *definitely* not ALL like that. He’s made some really goddamn interesting shit. I didn’t feel like this was one of his best albums by a long shot, but it was sill listenable. |

I know this is the wrong thread to ask but why would you be too scared to watch Neon Demon? |

Because I know Nicolas Winding-Refn and I know his films. They always elicit a visceral reaction, and Neon Demon is his most polarizing film yet. So I’m just imagining a lot of long tense pauses and feeling like I’m being experimented on. That’s how I felt during Only God Forgives, and it took me three views to come to a place where I could even appreciate that one. So yeah, I’m at the very least feeling extreme trepidation about Neon Demon. Fair nuff? |

Speaking of soundtracks I'm obsessed with the track Sea Wall from the new Blade Runner soundtrack. Fuck, that drone sound slays me.

Oh god, yes. The soundtrack is so goddamn good. It almost plays like an album... almost. But in those moments when it brings the movie back into the front of your mind, that there is some good shit. |

Fuckers! There’s a new DJ KOZE single out, with two great songs on it.
Listen to DJ KOZE or don’t talk to me about bleeps and bloops, heard? |

That just sounds like a re-hash of old Basic Channel stuff from the mid 90s |

You’re a rehash of stuff! Are you seriously not into DJ Koze? Have you not heard “Amygdala?” Or his utterly transformative remix of Superflu’s “Jo Gurt?” Or his Adolf Noise record? He is, no-shit, modern house music’s most interesting player. ”Jo Gurt” (DJ Koze remix) Dj Koze ft. Matthew Dear - “My Plans” Get with it man. |

Yeah man. I try to mention it as often as I can to as many people as possible. It’s one of the best albums of the decade in any genre. Koze is weird because he’s a house artist, so there’s an element of redundancy in the genre and people who listen to one song or a snippet might think he’s just like a million other artists, but he just infuses his work with personality and texture and different, seemingly incompatible moods. I legitimately think he’s he most interesting artist in electronic music. Nobody else makes music that is quite as consistently evocative of actual human emotions. It’s whimsical and sad and sometimes a little bit scary and sometimes just plain dumb fun, but somehow it all feels like Koze. You deserve to own “Amygdala” and have it in your life. The beats and sounds will seep into your consciousness and twist your shit up. I guess he’s similar in some respects to artists like Todd Terje, Nosaj Thing and KidKanevil, but he’s just on another level altogether. And I really enjoy those artists. Listen to that “Joe Gurt” remix I linked up yonder ^^ ... not a proper Koze song, but check it out, then listen to the Superflu original, and I think you’ll see what I mean about him infusing everything he touches with a certain... Koziness. Sales pitch over. |
