in 1970, on the 28th of june, soft machine played at the kralingen festival
near rotterdam in the netherlands. you can hear mike ratledge on keyboards, hugh hopper on bass, elton dean on woodwinds and robert wyatt drumming and vocalizing. this version of "esther´s nose-job" was only released on the bootleg some dutch hippie activists made available short after the festival. besides the soft machine it featured jefferson airplaine, the flock, quintessence, pink floyd, canned heat, family, dr. john, it´s a beautiful day, santana and country joe. esther´s nose-job (5,6 mb) http://home.arcor.de/ralf-petra/downs/down.htm |

Thanks.
Luigi Russolo - Die Kunst der Geraeusche This is a (bootleg?) collection of more or less all of Russolo's still surving works, and they're all original recordings as well (since none of his machines survive...). Barely over 20 minutes, but this is a nice little collection of arguably the very first experimental musician ever (sans maybe Erik Satie or the Second Viennese School)...So you don't have to buy 20 Dada/Futurist compilations! Dieter Roth - Musik, 1973-1991 (NWW List)
Just as promised! This is a compilation of Dieter Roth compositions, including excerpts from all three Roth, Ruhm & Weiner LP's, and some live stuff, among other things. Provides further insight not only into Dieter Roth's musical activities, but also the trio he was involved in. Sorry, no cover. click http://www.moma.org/exhibitions/2004/dieterroth/flash.htm http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/roth_dieter.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieter_Roth http://direct-waves.blogspot.com/200...1_archive.html |

Whitehouse - Right to Kill (Dedicated To Denis Andrew Nilsen), 1983, Come
This is one of only two Whitehouse records that have never been released (supposedly because the original tapes were lost and Bennett didn't want to release them in the quality they would be in if they were directly ripped from vinyl). This one was only released in 200 copies, so luckily someone did rip it from vinyl, so it's available nonetheless. Psychopathia Sexualis was the other LP that has not been reissued (for the same reason). Apparently this is the rarest/most sought after Whitehouse LP. Download |

Whenever I try searching for specific albums to download, it returns a bunch of irrelevent results (that have nothing to do with downloading said album). Is there anything I can include in the search that will actually help me locate these items? I know how to search for individual MP3s, but looking for entire albums escapes me.

Filesharing programs have never worked well for me, at all. I had soulseek for a while and I could never get it to function properly. Same with Limewire.

V/A - Psychedelic Phinland, 2-CD, 1967-74 (Sperm, Hector, Charlies, Wigwam...)
As promised...Lots of great unreleased tracks not even found on the Arktinen Hysteria comps: The hippie ideals and that fiercer underground arrived to Finland in the mental turmoil of the end of the 1960s. Their blooming was cut short, but both left their permanent mark on pop culture. The 2-CD Psychedelic Phinland collects together the nation's first hippie troubadours, pioneers of psychedelic prog, vanguard warriors of anarcho rock, acoustic tribal musicians and the extreme daredevils of the arctic avantgarde. The album presents the mashers of the fringes of consciousness from Blues Section to Tylympi Kohtalo ("The Grimmer Fate"), the wanderers of stellar spheres from Pekka Streng to Jukka Kuoppamäki, the gravediggers for the Establishment from Suomen Talvisota 1939-40 ("The Finnish Winter War 1939-40") to Apollo, those who grasped the meaning of the holy simplicity from Those Lovely Hula Hands to Kruununhaan Dynamo ("Kruununhaka's Dynamo") and the midwives of sonic revolution from The Sperm to Sähkökvartetti ("The Electric Quartet"). It's a unique sound documentary of the alternative music of the turn of the 1960s and 70s. For those already familiar with Suomen Talvisota and The Sperm are offered some curiosities which amaze by their sheer existence. Everything essential concerning the topic is presented here -- from Jorma Ikävalko's no-holds-barred hippie comedy to the flute meditation reaching for the world spirit by Sikiöt ("The Foetuses"). This compilation produced by Jukka Lindfors includes 29 tracks from 20 different artists or bands, including self-releases, radio and TV performances and live recordings. The sleeve illustration is provided by Timo Aarniala, the court artist of Finnish underground. The whole it can be best described by the words of the poet Markku Into: "Everyone does their own thing. A symphony for every member of the family, for everyone their own alienation". CD1 1. Topmost: The End 2. Hector & Oscar: Savu 3. Jukka Kuoppamäki: Kukkasen valta 4. Jorma Ikävalko: Hippijortsut pöhkölässä 5. Blues Section: Cherry-Cup Cake Twist 6. Wigwam: Must Be The Devil 7. Baby Grandmothers: Being Is More Than Life 8. Paris 1942 - Moe Tucker & Sun City Girls!!!
Paris 1942 - Self Titled Released by Majora Records LP 1995 Recorded in Phoenix Arizona 1983 The band is Moe Tucker (drums), Allan Bishop (bass, vocals), Bennie Baresi (guitar), Jesse Akkari (guitar), David Oliphant (guitar) and Rick Bishop as well possibly. Yes its true, the VU and Sun City Girls connection does exist. Killer early 80s garage jams very VU styled for the first few numbers and then it just gets darker and more stoned. Great Syd Barrett cover to boot! I ripped this sucker from vinyl myself. ENJOY! Paris 1942 - Move Out Of Wichita Download here, Paris 1942.zip.html |

I normally use soulseek or bittorrent for searching music, not blogs. But when searching blogs, I usually use google's blog search and then enter the album name plus "rar" or "mp3" or "zip" or "rapidshare" or "megaupload", etc... a lot of the time one of those search queries will work, for instance: http://blogsearch.google.com/blogsea...&oi=spell&sa=X (sorry for taking out the Motley Crue cliche on you!) Also, Nefeli pointed out http://www.blogscope.net in the "mp3 blogs of interest" thread, which I imagine would be handy for searching albums, but I haven't used that myself yet. |

The Telescopes - 7th# Disaster (EP)
Hot on the heels of Loop a couple of posts ago comes more sonic terrorism from the late Eighties in the shape of The Telescopes. Highly regarded at the time and continuing a line of noise that began with The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Telescopes came into being in 1988 centred around singer Stephen Lawrie's bizarre musical influences - one interview has him citing "environmental sounds......sitting in the airing cupboard with my eyes closed" as an inspiration. Although a large portion of The Telescopes back catalogue has been reissued on CD and they reformed in 2001/2002 - releasing sounds via Double Agent Records - I have been unable to find '7th# Disaster' on any of the compilations or otherwise. So, for your pleasure, here it is. Stephen Lawrie - Vocals And Acoustic Guitars Joanna Doran - Backing Vocals And Rhythm Guitars David Fitzgerald - Lead Guitars Robert Brookes - Bass Guitars Domimic Dillon - Drums And Percussion The Telescopes - 7th# Disaster (EP) (Cheree CHEREET4 1989)

Loop - Collision (EP) & Black Sun (EP)
I always preferred Loop to the Spacemen 3 though both dealt in repetitive guitar noise. Loop were more visceral I felt and less studied or 'put-on' in their delivery. They were formed in London in 1986 by Robert Hampson and his wife Bex and existed for an all-too-brief 5 years. Anyway, I give you their two 1988 EP's 'Collision' and 'Black Sun' - both Indie classics I feel. 'Collision' features the song 'Thief Of Fire' which was originally recorded by The Pop Group and released on their 1979 album 'Y'. Similarly, 'Black Sun' features another cover. This time it is 'Mother Sky' originally recorded by Can on their 'Soundtracks' album of 1970. So, skin up, sit back and let the waves of guitar wash over you..... Loop - Collision (EP) (Chapter 22 12CHAP27 1988)
