ZOLA JESUS
El Plaza Condesa Mexico City, Mexico Friday, September 14th, 2012 Swords Avalanche Hikikomori Stridulum Collapse Sea Talk Trust Me Lightsick In Your Nature Shivers Seekir Lick The Palm Of The Burning Handshake Night Ixode Vessel Poor Animal Line-up: Nika Roza Danilova: Vocals Alex DeGroot: Drums, synthesizer Nicholas Turco: Synthesizer Kim Free: Violin Download link (expires on October 13th, 2012): http://wtrns.fr/roOBQVp45UGOOT This was a great show, though some people were disappointed that it didn't last two epic hours, or something. It was also filmed with two professional video cameras, one at each side of the stage, and I noticed some condenser mics onstage pointed at the audience, too. Hope this means either an official release of this show or a DVD/live CD of the current tour might be planned. Nika and the band hung around the venue after the show was over, and took the time to talk to fans and sign a whole lot of bootleg merch. She said she liked some of those designs. I got three (official, of course) LPs signed as well as the set-list, which was given to me by Kim Free. Here's some Polaroids taken by my favorite photographer from around these parts, Toni Francois: http://www.tono.tv/polaroids-zola-jesus/ A big fuck you to whoever leeches from here or dime, then goes on to sell this type of recordings on rockincd, or some other such lame site like that.

Hello friends. Do you have any of The Strokes audio concerts from 2002? Any shows would be loved.
Thanks. |

Thanks Gambra! Om's 2010 Utrecht show (also with Rob Lowe from Lichens) was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

This is on DIME right now but I thought I'd upload it for folks not on there.

Hey Gambra,
How are the Tascam DR-05's internal mics? My Edirol R-09 might not last forever.... |

It's not actually my own recording, I just uploaded the show from DIME for someone else and though I'd post it here too. Though on listening to the show myself the mics do sound a bit better than the R-09 which I have myself.. |

Martin, there's a discussion of built in mics on "ts.com" at
http://taperssection.com/index.php?t...175#msg1983175 I weigh in for the pcmd1, but that's pretty high euros. I think hipsterbebopjunkie is getting some nice sets off his sony m10 |

I disagree completely with Acidjack's "But if you intend to record amplified rock, these internal mics will almost certainly distort." That's certainly not my experience. That said, good mics + bb trump internals every time, but for some people budget and convenience are more important. I'd love to be able to buy the kind of kit acidjack and nyctaper run, but I don't have $1000+ lying around. And even if I did, buying taping gear wouldn't be my first consideration - I'm Dutch, so naturally I'd spend it all on hookers and blow. |

the "ts" folks are all about the "more complicated your gear, the more important you are in the process" thus there are zillions of dollars being used recording simple singer/songwriter stuff and jam bands. I've had good luck with the d50 internal mics, as does Weasel Walter, if he's still posting stuff out there.....and I think your and hbj's work with the r9 and m10 are just wonderful. I certainly can see the idea of setting up quickly and forgetting your gear to be able to listen to the show without worrying about wires and batteries. The main reason I don't use the d50 internals more is that I can't set the unit down most scuzzy places I go to and not get it stolen. |

I've been thinking of getting the R-09 "micskeeter" modification that's mentioned in the thread for ages now, just never gotten the money put aside for it. I emailed Church Audio a few months ago about the price and it was $129 which is about the same price as a whole new recorder at this point really but the CA-11 mics are pretty good sounding.

I have to hold the R-09 while taping in most places I go to, any place I can set them down is usually way over to the side of the venues or just covered up by loads of people standing around it which ruins the sound. I once held the unit for a full 3 hours while taping GY!BE. |
