mike watt + friends
East coast launch for Watt's new book "On and Off Bass" Le Poison Rouge New York City, NY, USA 02 May 2012 They call this Hellride East - Watt, Mascis and Murph going Coltrane on the Stooges with the help of a bunch of special guests all of whom looked familiar to me but I only knew a couple by name. Almost every song had a guest singer and Steve Shelly and another dude spelled Murph on drums. Not even Thurston who sang thrice was willing to get in the way of J's guitar which was screaming and wild all night. Plus Watt blew out the Bass J brought for him to play and had to borrow one from the opener Appomattox (who were good. btw) as you can hear in the spiel track. The last track here actually came first. It was 20 minute Q&A before the Hellride with Watt getting quizzed by Byron Coley. Cool stuff. 1. Real Cool Time with Don Fleming 2. TV Eye with John Petkovic 3. Lose with Thurston Moore 4. Dirt with Sharon Van Etten and Steve Shelley 5. Not Right -Watt spiel 6. Down on the Street with Thurston 7. No Fun with Kurt Vile 8. 1970 with Noel, former soundman from the Continental on vocals 9. Little doll -Watt spiel 10. break-Watt Spiel 11. Fun House with Thurston and John Petkovic on Clarinet 12. La Blues with Byron Coley and John Petkovic on Clarinet 13. Watt Q&A wit Byron Coley Recorded and uploaded to dimeadozen by petercul http://wtrns.fr/lqpr7pW1296u05U (flac 24/48) |

I'm looking forward to contributing some shit to this thread soon. Both audio and video, and maybe even some memories if I can articulate myself, rather than just being a babbling monkey. Anyway, at the moment I'm having a bit of trouble finding a piece of good software to convert .MTS, .AVCHD files to .MP4 so that I can upload shit to Vimeo. I'm using a free trial version of WinX HD Video Converter, but if someone has experience I would love it if there could be a better suggestion. I've got a shit ton of gigabytes of live recordings that I suspect many of us active posters on this thread might be interested in. Hopefully I won't disappoint.

LASSE MARHAUG
Capilla Barroca del Museo del Pueblo "Sesiones Transónica" Guanajuato, Guanajuato Mexico Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 Source: Audience Lineage: Sony PCM M-10 (Internal Mics; Recording Mode: Manual; Mic Sensitivity: Low; Limiter: On)> 24 Bits/48 KHZ .WAV > Trader's Little Helper (FLAC level 8, .ffp) > Mp3tag v2.49a (Tagging) Track-list: 01.- Improvisation 02.- Improvisation (continued) Lasse Marhaug: Mixer, laptop, pedals, portable tape deck, analog tapes, electronic devices, handmade instruments. Notes: *Lasse Marhaug's official website: http://www.lassemarhaug.no/ *Paal Nilssen-Love was also on the bill. A local collective of musicians from Guanajuato called "Colectivo San Miguelito" performed before Lasse Marhaug, and Paal Nilssen-Love was the main act at La Capilla Barroca. A few hours later, Paal Nilssen-Love and Lasse Marhaug performed as a duo at a local venue. *Recorded by hipster_bebop_junkie. *This recording contains two tracks due to a crossfading from my recorder's memory to a SanDisk 8GB Micro SD HC card, but this performance was a noise piece which ran seamlessly. Despite the crossfading, not even a bit of music was lost. *Please, do not not ever sell or buy this recording. Do not distribute it in lossy format, either. *Please, support bands and artists you care about by buying official merch and records, and going to their concerts. .FLAC fingerprint: ; flac fingerprint file generated by Trader's Little Helper ; generated on May 9, 2012, at 12:38:07 lassemarhaug2012-05-08aud01.flac:9f7f5ac6347521d4e7ecd470e3e281c5 lassemarhaug2012-05-08aud02.flac:46116be4178e012ba3e96d70f2622173 .MD5 checksum: ; wholefile md5 checksum file generated by Trader's Little Helper ; generated on May 9, 2012, at 12:39:14 b9ccd871917fe326759ce415c8f9c214 *lassemarhaug2012-05-08aud.flac24.ffp 2ee1b6b1324557e8a80a7ce9a4f26535 *lassemarhaug2012-05-08aud01.flac beefa3bf3958462ef1083abc0d84990f *lassemarhaug2012-05-08aud02.flac 0f592ff629af0eb137228971c3c0f2e9 *poster.jpg Download link: http://www.sendspace.com/file/3ajkj6 I also have a kind of shaky (but not so much) HD video recording of this performance. I shall upload it to Vimeo as soon as possible.

Anyway, Paal Nilssen-Love also performed at that church, and then a few hours later, they both performed as a duo at a local bar in Guanajuato. It was really damn loud. Then a few days later, Lasse Marhaug performed a wild solo set in Mexico City that really floored me, and then a duo with Joke Lanz (Sudden Infant). I'm glad I was there to witness and document so much awesomeness, and I'll try to share all of my recordings soon. My humble impression is that some of the shit I have lined-up sounds a lot better than this one. I do hope you enjoy it as it is, though (raw, and unedited so it sounds kind of low)....
