RR was a fine album... probably the best of the past few 'hippie' albums. i don't know why saying this album is better is a insult to the previous album.
If anything RR had more forced sounding "oh yeah we need a noisy part right here" bits than this one. Sleeping around is a generic of a SY noise rocking soug as you can get. |

Yeah, the vocals and vocal delivery at times can be kind of "cheesy" or maybe even rushed, but the music/melodies overall are awesome. However, some of their best lyrical moments in the 90's could be called cheesy just the same, but they are great.
I wouldn't call this a 5 star album or anything....after one and a halfish listens, I def. really like it and can't wait for the tour!! Oh, and RR is the ONLY SY album that I don't listen to all the way through.....all I end up listening to (usually in the car) is Reena, Incinerate, Jams Run Free, and Rats. I don't see that happening with this one.

no because they were doing it in a different way there. from what i can tell nothing on ATL was similar to any album before, not too similar, anyhow. The Eternal is like if you put Goo and Sonic Nurse into a blender but didn't actually mix them. |

i personally think pink steam sucks
it's the eternal (yep ) thurston usual song since wildflower soul always the same pattern: wildflower-rain on tin-empty page-dripping dream-peace attack-pink steam enough! at least the song nearest to this pattern is sung by kim (malibu) and that's well done! |

the lyrics to "antenna" remind me of lou reed's "satellite of love." in a way.

"OMG, BUT ITZ LONGR DAN 5 MINITS" Honestly, it was the most predictable sounding SY song I had ever heard. I mean, I don't hate it, but come on.

IMO, Pink Steam is much better live. The build-up to the actual song is good, moreso than when the lyrics come in.
