So I want to get a dvd burner on my computer so that I could burn all of the dvds I have on my HD. My computer has a cd drive and a dvd drive and the cd drive has a burner. I want to know if I will need to add hardware to my pc or if I can just buy software. Anybody know? Also, what programs would you guys recommend?

The computer has two separate drives. One is a cd drive and one is a dvd drive. The dvd drive can also play cds though. I want to know if I will need hardware along with software, or can I just buy software? I really need to burn these dvds. They are taking up like 80% of my memory. |

It sounds like you just need software to me and that your dvd drive is probably als ocapable of burning discs. I had a copy of a Nero version (and shared it to a few people) but now I use a version that came with an external cd/dvd burner I purchased becase the drive for this machine was a cd only one. Guess what? It stopped burning dvds. So now I burn svcds or vcds if I have videos until I fix this. There are several places to download free torrents of the software of your choice complete with a keygen or crack.

Ahead Nero is just fine. if you want to do proper DVD video (i mean, not data dvds with video such as .mpg, .avi and so on) to play on normal DVD players (not divx reader etc) remember that you can copy just one video per DVD. even if the Video_ts and Audio_ts directories (the latter is not always included) are ,say, 800MB you can't add more DVD directories (= you can't put 2 sonic youth shows in dvd format in the same dvd).i think you can also find a trial version of nero on Ahead website, and there's a diagnostic routine that can determine if your dvd is a read-only thing or burner too.this post is a bit messy,i just woke up,sorry.

I use dvd decrypter and dvd shrink and they are great. I got em free. Look around online for them. Never had a problem with them and they're pretty easy to use.

i love nero, nero kicks ass. has tons of features (too many perhaps) & it's some of the best $70 i 've ever spent (for business use).
now the other thing you get a dvd burner, i've had good experience with NEC in recent times, plextor also is known for great quality & used in semi-industrial burners (the ones that are coupled with a $1,500 robotic arm). now make sure you are future-proof and get a dual-layer burner. costs a little more but will let you burn 9gb dvds instead of just 5. (you'll need the media of course). well have fun. |
